Less Boom Boom, More Brain: VALORANT’s Corrode is not for insta-lock duelists

Riot Games has officially lifted the veil on Corrode, the latest addition to VALORANT’s ever-expanding map pool. Launching with Season 2025 // Act IV, Corrode invites players into a war-torn pocket of Omega Earth where a once-proud French castle town now lies twisted into an industrial Radianite salt mine.

It’s a map that blends medieval grit with heavy machinery — a setting that not only looks stunning but also offers fresh tactical challenges.

    Built for tactical depth

Corrode features a three-lane layout and two Spike Sites, but the real draw is its emphasis on structured engagements. The map includes layered defenses and fallback positions, designed to reduce chaotic ability spam and reward smart, deliberate plays. This is Riot’s response to feedback around maps that feel too volatile for competitive play.

To encourage early adoption, Riot is reducing the ranked risk: from June 25, players will lose 50% less RR for losses on Corrode (but still gain 100% for wins). A dedicated Swiftplay queue will also be available from June 25 to 30.

    Meet the Phaseguard Collection

Alongside the map, VALORANT is introducing the Phaseguard Collection — a sleek new skinline inspired by cutting-edge technology and tactical efficiency. The lineup includes weapon skins for the Vandal, Outlaw, Ghost, and Bulldog, as well as a brand-new melee weapon called the Splitter.

    Battlepass highlights

Season 2025 // Act IV also rolls out a fresh Battlepass packed with cosmetics and collectibles. Highlights include the “5 Years: Kill All Radiants” card, the Bonsai Gun Buddy, and the ATLAS // CMD Vandal skin — a nod to the game’s fifth anniversary and ongoing narrative arcs.
