Nubia V70 Max is affordable, practical

Editor’s Note: The Nubia V70 Max is a quick follow up to the Nubia V70 Design, which we have reviewed here. This is an affordable workhorse that has slightly better specs, at a lower price point than when its predecessor launched.

There was a time when owning a mobile phone was a status symbol. But as technology evolved, what was once just a communication tool has become an essential part of education, business, health, banking, and everyday life. With new models launching frequently, consumers now have more choices, giving them the edge in selecting a phone that suits their needs and budget.

Enter the Nubia V70 Max, launched in early February—a budget-friendly smartphone packed with features that make it a strong contender in the affordable mobile phone market.

To get an unbiased perspective, I lent the phone to several family members and friends without revealing its price. The first feature that caught their attention was the ultra-large 6.9” 120Hz display. The spacious screen made typing, navigating apps, and multitasking a breeze. It also proved useful for online meetings, classes, emails, document analysis, and even watching movies—especially those with subtitles.

Under the hood, the 12GB RAM (6+6 virtual RAM) and 128GB internal storage earned praise, particularly from those who love downloading content and taking photos or videos. The 6,000mAh battery with 22.5W fast charging (via USB-C) ensured all-day usage, perfect for students, remote workers, and anyone juggling endless calls and virtual meetings without constantly reaching for a charger.

Security-wise, the face recognition and side-mounted fingerprint sensor provided added convenience. It also features 1.5-meter drop resistance, a plus for those prone to accidental slips. The 50MP AI camera, while decent, comes with an interesting eraser tool—simply encircle an unwanted object in a photo, and it disappears after a few seconds. Though it might take a few tries for a perfect edit, it’s a handy addition for quick touch-ups.

But the real surprise? The price. When I asked my test group to guess its cost, their estimates hovered around ₱10,000. They were shocked to learn that the Nubia V70 Max retails for just ₱4,699. One friend even exclaimed, “It’s a real bang for the buck!”

As more aspects of life shift to digital, staying connected doesn’t have to break the bank. Whether as a starter phone for students, a budget-friendly device for online businesses and digital banking, or a secondary phone for heavy users, the Nubia V70 Max proves that affordability and functionality can go hand in hand.
