Apple unveiled five new products at its September 9 event, led by its first foldable iPhone and accompanied by new Pro iPhones, Apple Watches and AirPods. Here’s what Apple announced.
iPhone Duo
Apple entered the foldable-phone market with the iPhone Duo, its first iPhone with a folding display. The device has a 7.6-inch inner display and a 5.4-inch outer screen, with both displays using the same aspect ratio to maintain visual continuity when switching between them.
The 7.6-inch inner Super Retina XDR display is made from 10 ultrathin layers and has a custom nano-texture finish designed to reduce glare and reflections. Apple says the finish also helps minimize the visibility of the fold, while the under-display FaceTime camera remains hidden when not in use. The result is a largely uninterrupted viewing surface for movies, games and other content.
Both displays support ProMotion up to 120Hz, Always-On functionality and up to 3,000 nits of outdoor peak brightness. The inner display measures 7.6 inches diagonally at 1878 × 2670 pixels, while the outer display measures 5.4 inches at 1398 × 2034 pixels.
The foldable design also supports different viewing positions, including propping the phone at an angle for hands-free viewing or video calls. Apple says the device will support Apple Pencil with USB-C later this year.
Powered by A20 Pro
The A20 Pro chip powers the iPhone Duo with a 6-core CPU, 7-core GPU with Neural Accelerators and a dual 16-core Neural Engine, delivering faster processing and on-device AI capabilities. Apple says the chip offers up to 20% faster CPU performance, 40% faster GPU performance and 50% more unified memory bandwidth than the A19 Pro.
Paired with a custom vapor chamber, the A20 Pro enables up to 35% better sustained performance than the iPhone 17 Pro, according to Apple, particularly for demanding workloads such as gaming, multitasking and on-device AI.

iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are built around Apple’s A20 Pro chip and a redesigned camera system, with the biggest change being the introduction of variable aperture on the 48MP Fusion Main camera. Six laser-cut blades allow the aperture to adjust between four settings, automatically adapting to lighting conditions while giving photographers manual control over depth of field. Apple also adds Pro controls for aperture, shutter speed and white balance, as well as a histogram and new texture and grain controls through Photographic Styles 3.
The A20 Pro uses a 2-nanometer process, with a 6-core CPU, 7-core GPU with Neural Accelerators and a dual 16-core Neural Engine. Apple says the GPU is up to 40% faster than the A19 Pro, while the chip has 50% more memory bandwidth and twice the AI processing power. A new vapor-chamber cooling system with three times the surface area of the previous generation is designed to deliver up to 40% higher sustained performance.
Battery life also gets a major increase, particularly on the Pro Max. Apple rates the iPhone 18 Pro at up to 36 hours of video playback and the Pro Max at up to 45 hours, with the latter offering up to six additional hours compared with the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Both models also introduce a smaller Dynamic Island capable of displaying up to three Live Activities simultaneously.

Apple Watch Series 12
The Apple Watch Series 12 introduces a new Health Sensing System built around new optical and electrical heart sensors and the S11 chip. The watch now measures heart rate every five seconds throughout the day, while heart-rate variability (HRV) can be measured as often as every five minutes, giving users more frequent data on activity, recovery and other physiological changes.
One of the biggest additions is Readiness, a daily 0-to-10 score based on recent activity, vitals and sleep. The system provides recommendations ranging from “Recover” and “Pace Yourself” to “Ready” and “Go For It,” with the score updating as new data comes in. Apple is also adding a redesigned Health app later this year with a Longevity tab and Health Age feature.
The Series 12 is available in 42mm and 46mm sizes, with aluminum, titanium and ceramic case options. Aluminum models use Ceramic Shield 2, which Apple says is 60% tougher than the previous Ion-X glass.

Apple Watch Ultra 4
The Apple Watch Ultra 4 receives the same new Health Sensing System as the Series 12, including more frequent heart-rate and HRV measurements and the new Readiness score. Its focus remains on outdoor sports and fitness, with Apple highlighting improved on-device GPS accuracy and the ability to track outdoor workouts for up to 45 hours.
Battery life is one of the Ultra 4’s biggest upgrades. Apple rates it for up to 50 hours of normal use, while Low Power Mode extends that to up to 84 hours; its Max Extended Workout mode can provide up to 45 hours of tracking. The watch also supports faster charging, making it better suited to longer training sessions and multi-day activities.
The Ultra 4 retains its 49mm titanium design and is available in natural and black titanium. It also gains the same S11-powered intelligence features as the Series 12, including Siri AI through watchOS 27 and new Audio Intelligence features arriving later this year.

Airpods 5
The AirPods 5 bring Active Noise Cancellation to Apple’s open-ear AirPods design, making ANC available at the company’s lowest AirPods price point. Apple says the new model reduces up to 50% more external noise than AirPods 4 with ANC, while a new multiport acoustic architecture and updated Adaptive EQ are designed to improve sound quality.
The earbuds also add Live Translation and hands-free access to Siri AI, allowing users to interact with Apple’s AI features through voice and head gestures. Adaptive Audio automatically blends ANC and Transparency mode depending on the environment, while Conversation Awareness lowers media volume when the wearer starts speaking.
The more expensive AirPods 5 with Wireless Charging Case adds on-stem volume controls through a force sensor, along with up to five hours of listening with ANC and up to 22 hours with the case. The case can be charged via USB-C, Qi-compatible chargers or an Apple Watch charger.
