One of the most beloved games in RGG Studio and SEGA’s critically acclaimed Yakuza franchise is coming to Nintendo’s brand new system in a few months, as Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut comes to Nintendo Switch 2 as a launch title and will be a timed exclusive for the brand new hybrid console when it comes out this June!
Check out the launch trailer for the new version of the much beloved prequel entry in the Like A Dragon franchise, which was formerly called “Yakuza” in the west and is known as “Ryu Ga Gotoku” in its native country of Japan. Featuring new cutscenes, a new multiplayer mode called Red Light Raid, and a new English and Chinese language track in addition to the original Japanese, there’s a lot to be excited for with this new rerelease of this critically acclaimed entry by RGG Studio and SEGA.
Originally released for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 a decade ago in March 2015, Yakuza 0 brought the series back to the late 1980’s and chronicled the early years of fan favorite characters Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima. Set during Japan’s Bubble Era, the story focuses on various factions vying for control for a patch of land called the “Empty Lot” as well as several events and circumstances that help shape and mold both men way before they became the iconic badass gangsters and protagonists that fans know and love today.

Here’s the press release for the game as released by SEGA Asia:
Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut is an action-adventure game that takes us back to 1988. The streets of Kamurocho, Tokyo and Sotenbori, Osaka are bustling with the vibrant night life of the bubble era, setting the stage for the two legends of the story. Prowl the streets as Kazuma Kiryu and Goro Majima, flawlessly switching between their individual three unique battle styles to show your opponent who’s boss.
Witness new cutscenes of major characters or team up with up to 3 friends in the series’ first-ever online multiplayer mode, Red Light Raid! The Director’s Cut also introduces an additional English and Chinese voiceover for full immersion.

Set as a timed exclusive for the Switch 2 first before it releases for other platforms and systems, Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut will be released alongside the Nintendo Switch 2 when it launches this June 5.
