First Look: HONOR Magic V3 is still the thinnest premium foldable this 2024

Third time’s the charm! I was a huge fan of the HONOR Magic V2 when it was released it earlier this year. At that time it promised to be the thinnest foldable phone in the market, taking jabs at the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5. With this new iteration, HONOR is again taking jabs as a marketing technique — claiming that the new HONOR Magic V3 is thinner than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6.

Here is a photo to prove it, with the Fold6 on the right. The V3 is slightly — but noticeable thinner than the competition. Does thin matter to you? How thin does a device have to be to make it a purchase game changer?

You can clearly see from the USB-C charging port that HONOR is really pushing the envelope as to how thin a device can be. What next? Pure wireless charging to make it even thinner?

One key difference from the previous model is that camera aesthetics. The new V3 has a camera system that physically resembles the much coveted HONOR Magic6 Pro. The stock case stand that comes with it has the kick stand located around the camera. I personally prefer the design of the previous model, but this works fine.

We’re excited to test out HONOR’s latest foldable! If it’s anything like the previous model — but better, we’re looking at a new winner here.
