In my two years as a tech reporter, I’ve attended all kinds of phone launches. Some had house music, celebrity brand ambassadors, and stage lights bright enough to fry your retinas.

But this one? This one had cobblestones, espresso on every corner, and art nouveau streetlamps that looked like they belonged in a painting. Most importantly, it had a star worth looking up for—a phone co-designed by an F1 racing team.

Welcome to the global launch of the realme GT7 Dream Edition in Paris, France.

Its aesthetics heavily draw from the motorsport design; the body finished in Aston Martin’s Racing Green with wings on both sides that resemble the F1 high airflow trails. Right in the middle, rests the Aston Martin silver wing emblem. Let’s talk about the three things I love about this phone.

Battery life took three espresso shots

Last year, if you’d remember, realme made headlines by teasing its blisteringly fast 320W Supersonic Charge, promising that the GT series would be first in line to get it. So yes, I was curious too. Did the GT7 Dream Edition get the ultra-charger treatment?

Not quite. Instead, it ships with 120W wired charging, which, to be honest, is still ridiculously fast. From 1% to 80% in just under 15 minutes, and a full charge in under half an hour. Combine that with the phone’s massive 7000mAh battery, and it’s a device that easily lasts through a full day of heavy usage.

It’s not 320W, but unless you’re in a race against a lightning bolt, you won’t feel like you’re missing out.

In my case, I was able to use the phone up to two days and a half. I wasn’t even down to zero when I decided I needed it to recharge. I’m a light-user. I browsed, took photos, checked maps, posted a few stories, and the battery just kept going.

Moreover, it supports Smart Bypass Charging, which means it skips the battery and goes straight to the chipset when under heavy use like gaming when plugged in. This helps the phone reduce battery strain and cool while maintaining performance.

It’s one of those lowkey features that I didn’t notice until I’m in the back of my Uber ride, switching from Instagram, Google Maps, to Spotify.

As one of those girls that just use phone for daily work and socialization, it’s a battery that will sure outlast me.

    As fast as it looks

Of course, the battery is just half of the story. What can you do with all that battery if you don’t have a chipset that matches its drive?

While I’m not exactly a mobile gamer, I gave the GT7 a bit of a workout with some video editing and quick multitasking tests, and it handled everything without a stutter. At the heart of the realme GT7 Dream Edition is the MediaTek Dimensity 9400e, a flagship chipset that brings serious performance.

If you’re into numbers, the phone scored over 2.25 million on AnTuTu, putting it firmly in the ultra-premium tier. It can handle high graphics and high frame rate settings in most games with ease, and supports 4K and even 8K video recording.

To push the gaming experience even further, realme added a new AI Gaming Coach, which gives you real-time in-game status updates. The Smart Danger Alerts can warn you when enemies are nearby, like a co-pilot that actually pays attention. It’s a small but clever touch that turns the GT7 into the player’s second pair of eyes in fast-paced matches.

Here’s a screen-recorded video of the game we played. You’ll hear the AI gaming coach warn us, the player, of enemies approaching, advising us to “stay alert” as we play. However, this feature only supports Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and PUBG.

We tried to use this feature on unsupported games like the EA Sports FC Mobile and played on high frame rates. It did not heat up even though we were already in high settings.

After both games, I can say that GT Boost really did well. However, the phone only started getting warmer only two hours in.

Furthermore, realme added more AI tools for productivity in the GT 7. If we had an AI assistant before, today we have its AI Planner. The AI planner is triggered by tapping the back of your twice. For example, your group chat is trying to set a date for the next dine out. The AI planner  will analyze your screen and add the event to your calendar.

I tried it here when I had to set a meeting for the creative committee of an organization I am a part of. By just tapping twice, it added the meeting to my calendar.

Camera readies you for any tour

As an Instagram girlie, my eyes are always trying to find the next ‘estetik’ shot. And Paris is just swimming in art and beauty. I can say that it was an eye feast.

The 50MP Sony IMX906 main sensor with OIS is the real star here, especially when it’s paired with its AI Lightning Snap, which they claim to have a shutter speed of just 1/10.266 seconds. Add that to its 50 MP 2x telephoto lens and an 8MP ultra-wide, I got enough tools to capture most shooting scenarios, from close-up cafe tables and wide shots of Parisian spots.

If you’re one to have a reputation of a good selfie game, the 32 MP Sony IMX615 won’t drag you down as well.

Now, to give you evidence of its camera specs, here’s a little gallery of the shots I took while we were in Paris.

The verdict: A phone fit for a race

In today’s market that is filled with brands that yearly doubles up on specs, the realme GT 7 feels like a machine with character. It’s fast and thoughtfully designed. With a MediaTek Dimensity 9400e chipset, a 7000mAh battery and 120W charging, it definitely feels like you won’t run out of juice.

If you’re shopping based on memory and storage, here’s the pricelist:

    • realme GT7 (12GB + 512GB) – PHP 37,999
    • realme  GT7 T (12GB +256GB) – PHP 29,999
    • Realme GT7 Dream Edition (limited edition of the GT 7 series) – PHP 39,999

Whether you’re a gamer, a content creator, or just someone who likes a fun phone to use, we can say that the realme GT 7 Dream Edition lives up to its name.
