Although this project has been implemented for months now, it’s good to revisit the fact that the Bangko Sental ng Pilipinas (BSP)  has deployed coin deposit machines, or CoDMs, in malls around Metro Manila to encourage Filipinos to deposit their “idle coins” for a more efficient coin recirculation in the country.

But how does it work? The BSP has the 3Cs to teach the public on how to use it. The first C stands for “Collect,” which means to collect unused coins and bring them to any SM, Robinsons, and Filinvest malls that have the CoDM available. The coins should not be “taped or bundled” before putting them into the coin slot.

The next C stands for “Choose,” which means that the user can choose between having your coins credited to your e-wallet or turned into a shopping voucher.

The last C stands for “Consume,” which means that the value of the deposited coins can now be used for the user’s need—whether you chose to transform it into e-money or a shopping voucher.

The coin machines can be found in SM Megamall, Robinsons Metro East, SM City Grand Central Mall, SM City Marilao, SM City Taytay, Robinsons Place Novaliches, SM City Sucat, SM Hypermarket FTI Taguig, Robinsons Place Magnolia, SM City Marikina, SM City Calamba, SM City San Mateo, SM City Valenzuela, Robinsons Place Antipolo, Festival SuperMall, SM Southmall, SM City Bacoor, SM City Bicutan, SM City San Lazaro, SM Mall of Asia, Robinsons Place Manila, SM City Fairview, Robinsons Galleria Ortigas, and SM City North Edsa.

In this video, Tech Editor Jayvee Fernandez uses the CoDM located in Festival Mall, Muntinlupa at the basement entrance near BLK 512 yogurt and the Japanese thrift store (near Save More).
