The Recording Academy® is teaming up with IBM to offer GRAMMY® IQ built with IBM watsonx, an artificial intelligence (AI) platform that lets fans test their knowledge of music history.

The platform uses IBM’s Granite 3.0 large language model to create interactive quizzes based on decades of Grammy data. Users can answer questions, request hints, and view explanations, while top scores are displayed on a live leaderboard on Grammy.com. Daily sweepstakes and social-sharing features aim to encourage regular fan engagement.

Beyond online quizzes, IBM is helping the GRAMMY Museum® revamp Musical Crossroads, an interactive exhibit that allows visitors to explore nearly 200 music genres.

The exhibit links artists, songs, photos, and historical context across genres, encouraging discovery and a deeper understanding of the industry’s evolution.

IBM is also updating digital services for the Academy’s 30,000-plus members, including a redesigned member portal and multilingual support in four additional languages.

The initiative reflects a nearly decade-long partnership between the Grammy Awards® and IBM, combining AI technology with the Academy’s extensive music archives to deliver more engaging and personalized experiences for fans and members worldwide.
