In 2024, the global smartphone market experienced notable growth, with Apple and Samsung maintaining their positions as industry leaders. According to a preliminary report by the International Data Corporation (IDC), the fourth quarter marked the sixth consecutive quarter of increasing shipments, totaling 331.7 million units—a 2.4% year-over-year rise.

Despite their leading positions, both Apple and Samsung faced slight declines in shipments during Q4 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. Apple shipped 76.9 million units, a 4.1% decrease, while Samsung shipped 51.7 million units, down by 2.7%. In contrast, Xiaomi, securing the third spot, increased its shipments by 4.8%, totaling 42.7 million units.

For the entire year, Apple led the market with an 18.7% share, followed closely by Samsung at 18%. Xiaomi held 13.6% of the market, reflecting its growing influence. Notably, Transsion and Oppo tied for the fourth position, each with approximately 8.5% market share.

Complementing these findings, data from Oberlo as of October 2024 indicated that Apple held a 28.38% market share, with Samsung at 22.82%. Xiaomi remained the third-largest smartphone brand globally, possessing 10.62% of the market.

These statistics underscore the dynamic nature of the smartphone industry, highlighting the sustained dominance of established brands like Apple and Samsung, while also showcasing the rapid ascent of Chinese manufacturers such as Xiaomi.
