Microsoft has introduced a new enterprise offering aimed at expanding how artificial intelligence (AI) is used in the workplace.
Called the Frontier Suite, the business solutions package brings together AI assistants, autonomous software agents, and enterprise security tools under a new subscription tier known as Microsoft 365 E7.
Here are five key things to know about Microsoft’s latest AI initiative:
1. A new enterprise AI bundle
The Frontier Suite is Microsoft’s attempt to consolidate several AI and security tools into a single enterprise offering.
It combines Microsoft 365 Copilot, security and compliance tools from Microsoft 365 E5, and new systems designed to manage AI agents across organizations.
The suite will be offered through a new Microsoft 365 E7 subscription tier, aimed primarily at large enterprises that want to deploy AI at scale while maintaining security and governance over company data.
2. Copilot continues expanding across Microsoft 365
At the center of the suite is Microsoft 365 Copilot, the company’s AI assistant embedded across productivity applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
Microsoft said the latest updates will allow Copilot to perform more complex tasks, including analyzing documents, summarizing large datasets, generating presentations, and drafting reports.
Instead of responding only to prompts, the system is designed to assist users more actively by pulling relevant information from files and meetings.
3. AI agents are becoming part of office workflows
Microsoft is placing increasing focus on AI agents, which will be capable of carrying out tasks with minimal human input. These agents can perform activities such as research, document preparation, workflow automation, and information retrieval across company systems.
The company expects AI agents to become a common part of the workplace software as businesses look to automate repetitive tasks and streamline internal processes.
4. “Work IQ” helps AI understand workplace context
A key component of the Frontier Suite is Work IQ, an intelligence layer designed to help AI tools understand how work happens inside an organization. By analyzing documents and communications, Work IQ provides AI assistants with organizational context that can improve the relevance of their responses.
Microsoft said this system allows Copilot and other AI tools to produce outputs that are more aligned with company knowledge and workflows.
5. New tools to manage and monitor AI agents
To address concerns about oversight, Microsoft is also introducing Agent 635, a platform that allows organizations to monitor and control AI agents deployed within their systems.
The platform gives IT teams visibility into how AI agents operate, what data they can access, and how they interact with company applications.
As AI agents become more integrated into workplace systems, Microsoft is also strengthening security and oversight across its ecosystem.
The company said tools like the Agent 365, Microsoft Entra and Microsoft Purview are designed to help IT Teams to monitor how AI agents operate.
