Filipinos live loudly, even in the most chaotic ways. Speakers with cracked reverb are staples in every fiesta that plays budots for hours. The holidays are not complete with karaoke sessions and EDM playlists with headache-inducing bass drops (unless everyone’s too tipsy to care). We’re so connected to music that we welcome imperfections for the sake of the fun.

Now, LG is taking a culture that sees distortion as part of the charm and showing it what clean sound can do with the rollout of its new speaker lineup. The LG xboom, in collaboration with former Black Eyed Peas frontman, will.i.am, is tuned for immersive, high-energy sound with added portability that cancels out every inch of bad vibe we get from (familiar) clunky audio.
The series covers different needs:
- Stage 301 – 6.5” woofer, dual midrange drivers, mic controls for easy karaoke

- Bounce – compact but loud with twin dome tweeters and passive radiators

- Grab – portable tube shape with a 16mm tweeter for crisp sound anywhere

- Buds – the in-ear entry with graphene-coated drivers, noise cancellation, and three mics for calls, good for work and casual listening sessions

All speakers use the LG-perfected AI-powered audio tuning, designed to smooth out peaks and dips before they can hijack the mood. Auracast allows multiple units to be linked with a tap, so one part of the house can sing every note like it matters, while another doubles as a dance floor for the TikTokers. For hardcore party-starters, the LG xboom XL Series, xboom Go, and xboom RN Series speakers will turn up the volume at louder, more crowded functions.

Pop goes boom
To put LG xboom by will.i.am to the test, the brand hosted the launch at Xylo at the Palace, leaning into a K-pop-inspired party setting with live acts and dance battles that show how the lineup performs in the wild.
There were a few moments in the background that said as much about the speakers as the main acts did. First: rising star and The Voice alum Zephanie’s soaring vocals were steadied with crisp clarity and none of that muffled haze you get from most karaoke bars. She’d already been using the xboom offstage. “It’s the speaker I rely on whether I’m rehearsing or relaxing,” she said.

Boy group NEW:ID demonstrated how the bass could push the stage energy without bleeding into everything else.

The K-Pop Dance Battle, judged by LG’s audio team and local music personalities, had crews like Psycho, Kairos, Excrementum, DazZ, and Principtium pulling off precision choreography to cheers from the crowd, with the latter bagging the winning title.

Even the audience got in on the LG xboom AI Dance Challenge, choreographed by Jaja Sagmayao, doubling as a stress test for the speakers’ endurance.

So, are they perfect? Well, the Buds may face stiff competition from brands with a longer track record in personal audio, but as a sound system, especially when used in multiples, the LG AI xboom lineup can be the best Pinoy-style vibe prepper. It respects our love of volume while proving that clarity and control can belong at the same party.
