Access to healthcare in the Philippines often breaks down not inside hospitals, but before patients even get there or after they leave with a prescription.

PharmaServ Express is betting that a mobile-first platform can help close that gap. The platform connects patients to partner pharmacies while handling the delivery of medicines, viewing itself as a logistics layer rather than a provider.

Andrian Perez, president of PharmaServ Express, told PhilSTAR Tech that the platform is designed to make healthcare accessible to anyone with a mobile phone. He described the model like the food delivery service Grab but the “focus is more on health, and not just delivering the goods.”

The company recently just exited beta and is nearing 5,000 users as it focuses on rolling out the service in Metro Manila.

However, the bigger challenge lies beyond urban centers, where access to medicine remains inconsistent.

While initial rollout is focused on Metro Manila, PharmaServ hopes to extend the service to remote areas.

“Sila ‘yung challenged. For the accessibility to the medicines and the availability of those areas. We want to bring it there,” Perez said.

As the platform handles sensitive medical information, Perez said user data is protected through consent-based sharing.

Patients must approve any exchange of prescriptions or records, and information stored on the cloud is masked, with access limited even within the company until processing is required.

Before launching its app, PharmaServ Express built its operations around medical logistics, including vaccine delivery for drugstores and the Department of Health.

For Perez, the long-term vision goes beyond delivery.

“It’s for everyone to have a space where they can connect to patients. And the patients can connect to services,” he said.

Delivery options include pickup, scheduled delivery, or express delivery

How the app works

From ordering to delivery, the platform is designed to turn a mobile phone into a single access point for medicines:

    • Create an account and set location:
The app determines whether the user’s area is serviceable
    • Choose a pharmacy:
Users select from nearby partner pharmacies based on their address
    • Select or request medicines:
Browse available products or request specific items not listed
    • Upload prescription (if required):
Images or PDFs are submitted for verification by licensed pharmacies
    • Place order and choose delivery type:
Options include pickup, scheduled delivery, or express delivery
    • Pay digitally
: It supports cards and e-wallets such as GCash and Maya
    • Track and communicate:
Users can monitor deliveries in real time and message pharmacies in-app

Download the PharmaServ Express app from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
