Guess What’s Making a Comeback? Net Cafes! And It’s All Thanks to VALORANT

Remember the good old days when net cafes were the place to be? You’d head over after school or on weekends, meet up with friends, and get into some serious gaming sessions. Well, guess what—they’re back! And it’s all thanks to VALORANT and some pretty cool initiatives by Riot Games Philippines.

If you’ve been gaming at home and missing that social vibe, you’re in for a treat. From August 1 to August 30, Riot Games has teamed up with some of the top PC cafes across the country to turn them into VALORANT Community Hubs. Yep, you read that right. Those cafes you used to hang out in? They’re getting a major upgrade.

This is all part of the lead-up to VALORANT Champions 2024, the biggest tournament of the year, which is taking place in Seoul, South Korea, from now until August 30. To bring that excitement closer to home, Riot is transforming these cafes into hotspots where fans can gather to watch the world’s best teams compete, play their own matches, and win exclusive VALORANT swag. It’s like stepping back into the past, but with a fresh, exciting twist.

But it’s not just the PC cafes getting in on the action. Riot’s also partnering with university esports organizations to bring the hype to campuses. Imagine watching the VALORANT Champions 2024 finals with your schoolmates at places like UP Gaming Guild at the University of the Philippines, or the Teletigers Esports Club at the University of Santo Tomas. Other schools like Ateneo’s LG Esports and Far Eastern University’s iTamaraws Esports Club are joining in too, hosting their own watch parties where you can cheer on your favorite teams with friends.

And that’s not all! Riot’s also tapping into the local music scene, bringing in OPM stars like SB19’s Josh Cullen, Zack Tabudlo, and the girl group KAIA to pump up the vibe. Whether you’re there for the games, the music, or just to chill with your crew, these hubs are where it’s at.

So why stay cooped up at home when you can relive the glory days of net cafes with a whole new generation of gamers? Grab your friends, head over to the nearest VALORANT Community Hub anytime from August 1 to August 30, and get ready to experience gaming like it used to be—social, fun, and full of energy.
