The new HONOR Magic V3 debuts at P89,999 (24GB+512GB) with a free HONOR Pad X9 worth P9,999 if you order before December 1 2024.
HONOR has officially launched the Magic V3. In every iteration, they make the claim that this is the world’s thinnest foldable. This year, they hit it right out of the ball park again as ths V3 is significantly thinner than its predecessor.
The HONOR Magic V2 wowed tech enthusiasts earlier this year with its claim as the thinnest foldable phone, challenging the Galaxy Z Fold5. Now, HONOR is back with the Magic V3, upping the ante yet again. HONOR’s new foldable is thinner than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6, and this photo comparison proves it. With a slimmer profile and upgraded features, HONOR is betting big on thin being a game-changer for buyers.
But does thin really matter? For me, it’s all about the balance between form and function, and the Magic V3 does more than impress in this department.
The Thinnest Foldable Yet
Measuring just 9.2mm thick when folded and an astonishing 4.35mm when unfolded, the Magic V3 doesn’t just boast beauty—it’s built tough. HONOR’s Super Armored Screen makes it five times more wear-resistant, while the new Titanium Hinge cuts down weight by 40%, ensuring durability without bulk. And with an IPX8 water resistance rating, it’s ready to handle spills and unexpected mishaps. For consumers we have to note that an IPX8 rating only means resistance to fresh water at 1 meter depth but as it is a foldable, it does not have an official rating towards dust and foreign particle protection.
The Magic V3 unfolds to a 7.92-inch LTPO display with 1–120Hz adaptive refresh rate, ideal for multitasking or media consumption. When folded, the 6.43-inch external screen still offers incredible brightness and usability.
Studio Harcourt in a foldable
One noticeable update is the camera system, now resembling the HONOR Magic6 Pro in physical appearance. While I personally preferred the earlier rectangular camera system look from the V2, the new layout adds more to the table with AI Falcon Camera System. This also means that HONOR has commited itself to the Studio Harcourt AI training engine, as this mode can be turned on when shooting in portrait mode.
Some features of the AI Falcon Camera System:
- 40MP Ultra-Wide, 50MP Wide with OIS, and 50MP Telephoto lenses.
- Dual 20MP front cameras for seamless shooting on both interior and exterior displays.
Whether it’s night mode, 4K video, or 100x zoom, the Magic V3 has creators covered.
Hey it’s AI
It’s 2024 and voila, we can’t escape the AI revolution especially with the flagship line of HONOR. AI integration elevates the experience, with features like AI Face-to-Face Translation, Magic Capsule, and advanced photo tools like Eyes Closed Optimization for flawless portraits.
We’re hoping that HONOR borrows a page from Samsung and releases other key AI features to the previous generation of flagship phones. For owners of the Magic 6 Pro and the Magic V2, it would be a huge win if AI Face-to-Face translation was made available down the line as a software update.
Flagship performance as expected
Running on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, with 24GB RAM (yes, that’s real!) and 512GB storage, this phone doesn’t just handle your daily tasks—it crushes them. The 5150mAh battery with 66W HONOR SuperCharge keeps you powered all day, no matter how much you multitask.
In the new meta of portable Windows gaming devices like the ASUS ROG Ally and Lenovo Legion Go, you can transform your V3 into such a gaming device by adding accessories like the GameSir G8+ as pictured here. The V3’s large screen and thin profile fits perfectly into this gamepad.
