Nintendo Switch 2 official warranty explained for the Philippines

A few days ago I released an article detailing a list of official dealers of the Nintendo Switch 2. I’ve attached the article here for your perusal.

Now the issue of warranty was brought up. Some customers left comments (and DM’s) saying that their retailer isn’t on the list but also offered an official warranty. I wanted clarity in this confusion so I decided to go to the VST-ECS compound in Pasig to get to the bottom of this fiasco.

VST ECS was appointed as the official distributor of Nintendo in the Philippines last 2023. Not only are they the official distributor, they are also the official service center, as quoted here:

In addition to being the official distributor, VSTECS Phils. is also the designated service center for Nintendo Switch in the Philippines. This means that consumers can rely on VSTECS and its affiliate service centers nationwide for customer support and maintenance services, further solidifying the commitment to gaming experience.

“Our distributor appointment from Nintendo is a significant step towards making Nintendo Switch a household name in the Philippines. Our extensive channel network and market reach amplify our ability to deliver the gaming products to a broader audience”, says Jimmy Go, president and CEO, VSTECS Phils. (source)

After talking to some of the executives running the service center and distributorship I have come to a better understanding of the warranty situation. I will elaborate here in bullet form.

  • VST-ECS is the official distributor, but not the exclusive distributor of Nintendo in the Philippines. There are other distributors of Nintendo.
  • The edge of VST-ECS as official distributor means they can extend a 2 year warranty on parts and services for Nintendo hardware.
  • To know if your Switch 2 comes from an official store, it has to have the PHL mark “for sale and use in the Philippines” and the VST ECS sticker with a QR code at the bottom of the box. If you lose the box, VST-ECS can always check as the serial number of the Switch is already encoded in their system for 2 years eligible warranty.
  • If your Switch 2 comes only with the PHL label, they will still honor it, but with only 1 year of warranty. It also will not be prioritized if there is a queue.
  • If your Switch 2 does not have a PHL region label (for instance bought in HK or Australia), VST-ECS will still accept the unit but with no warranty claim. They will charge you for service and parts.
  • A VST-ECS service center has an impressive 30 minute turnaround to fix issues. More often than not, Nintendo will replace faulty hardware within the two year warranty period. This is why the turnover is so fast for warranty claims.
  • In Manila, the service centers include the main Pasig warehouse compound and the BGC branch. There are also designated service centers in Davao and Cebu. For claims, customers can also return to the official retailer they purchased the product such as Abenson or Robinson in their province and these retailers will ship the device to the closest service center. Generally speaking, an in-person appearance is needed for warranty claims to ensure the unit was not tampered by a delivery service. Of course there are exceptions like living too far from the actual service center, or a branch. The best way forward is to call the numbers listed below so a representative can cater to your query.
Nintendo Switch 2: A series of happy compromises

Here are the addresses and contact info.

So yeah I hope this clears it all up. I’ll be uploading some video I took of the place later on so stay tuned! As of this writing, there are no warranty claims yet which means everyone who bought is still enjoying their Nintendo Switch 2.
