Digital health platform mWell, developed by Metro Pacific Health Tech, secured its third Global Mobile (GLOMO) recognition after winning Best Mobile Innovation Supporting Emergency or Humanitarian Situations under the Tech4Good category at Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona, Spain.

The award is a back-to-back win for the platform after its 2023 recognition for Best Mobile Innovation for Digital Life.

“Digital innovation is key to our commitment to national progress,” said Manuel V. Pangilinan, chair of mWell and MPIC. “Through mWell, we continue to harness technology to bring quality healthcare closer to every Filipino.”

For emergencies, mWell has introduced Southeast Asia’s first medicine drone delivery service, allowing life-saving medicines to reach patients in minutes instead of hours.

Organized by the GSMA, the GLOMO Awards are widely regarded as one of the mobile industry’s most prestigious recognitions. Winners were announced during a ceremony on March 4 and selected by a panel of more than 250 independent experts from the global mobile ecosystem.

“This recognition affirms our focus on advancing healthcare inclusion through innovation,” said Chaye Cabal-Revilla, president and CEO of mWell and chief finance, risk, and sustainability officer of MPIC. “Our goal is simple: ensure healthcare is within reach for communities that need it most.”

This year’s winners included major global brands such as Apple, China Mobile, China Telecom, Huawei, and Samsung, and across multiple categories.

Today, the mWell ecosystem, together with KonsultaMD, serves about 7.3 million users, with 37% coming from vulnerable and underserved sectors.

To expand healthcare access, the platform has deployed 179 mWell OnTheGo Clinic-in-a-Bag units across remote islands, Indigenous communities, correctional facilities, and disaster-affected areas. The portable digital clinics have supported nearly 891,000 people across 17 Indigenous communities.

Across the Philippines, reaching a doctor can still require hours of travel by land or sea. The mWell OnTheGo system addresses this challenge through a portable setup that includes a smartphone or tablet preloaded with the mWell app, Wi-Fi or satellite connectivity, a solar panel, and a power station. Patients in remote locations can consult licensed doctors, receive prescriptions, and access their health records without leaving their communities.

The platform also supports the BangKalusugan (BangkaHealth) initiative in partnership with the Department of Information and Communications Technology. Health boats deliver telemedicine services to coastal villages and island barangays, working with local health workers to facilitate consultations.

Beyond remote communities, the digital health ecosystem also supports overseas Filipinos. Through partnerships with the Department of Migrant Workers and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, overseas Filipino workers and their families can consult Filipino doctors through the platform.

mWell is also preparing clinics transitioning from PhilHealth’s eKonsulta platform to its YAKAP Claims Platform, ensuring continued access to healthcare and PhilHealth benefits for indigent patients.

“Over three decades in and the GLOMOs continue to set the benchmark for what true excellence looks like in our industry,” said Lara Dewar, chief marketing officer of the GSMA.
