Tbe battle is joined! Microsoft has been shaking the PC world with their latest Co-Pilot+PC releases. This is a soft reboot of what we’ve always thought of a notebook to be in several aspects. For one, the lines between x86 and ARM are blurring, with Snapdragon and (soon) MediaTek entering the notebook space with their processors. That being said, Intel and AMD have had their own competition, with these two “grandfather” chip makers finally have a chance at competing with Apple’s own M chips. Make no mistake, the AI PC race is smoke and mirrors to the bigger battle between Microsoft and Apple. And it seems that Microsoft has gained more allies to take a bite out of Apple.

In the Philippines, ASUS was the first to release the AMD contender for this next-gen AI PC race, the Vivobook S16 (M5606). At P84,995, it enters as a premium performance device that should last you at least five years (and in this day and age — more!).

The ASUS Vivobook S 16 is designed to cater to users who demand portability, powerful performance, and cutting-edge AI features for productivity and content creation. With a sleek design and robust specifications, this laptop aims to meet the needs of modern professionals and creatives on the go.

    Portability at Its Best

Weighing just 1.5kg and measuring 13.9mm thick, the Vivobook S 16 is ultra-thin and lightweight, making it a breeze to carry around. The laptop’s compact design fits easily into backpacks, as demonstrated in promotional videos, where it seamlessly transitions between various environments such as coffee shops, parks, and even the backseat of a car. For users who are constantly on the move, this portability ensures productivity without compromise.

    Power-Packed Performance

At the heart of the Vivobook S 16 lies an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor paired with Radeon 890M graphics, 24GB of RAM, and a 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD. These components promise impressive performance for tasks ranging from streaming and browsing to video editing and gaming. User reviews highlight the laptop’s ability to handle demanding workloads, including AI-integrated video editing software, with ease. For gamers, the combination of hardware delivers satisfying results, making it a versatile option for both work and play.

    AI-Driven Innovation

A standout feature of the Vivobook S 16 is its integration of advanced AI capabilities. Equipped with a 50 TOPS NPU and a dedicated “Copilot key,” the laptop promises personalized assistance, enhanced security, and seamless performance. ASUS positions this device as “AI Ready,” ensuring it can leverage current and future AI advancements. Whether it’s streamlining workflows or boosting efficiency, these AI features are designed to take productivity to the next level.

For reference, AMD is boasting 50 TOPS AI processing, which is already roughly 33% higher than the baseline of when CoPilot+PC series was announced back in June 2024.

    A Stunning Visual Experience

The Vivobook S 16’s 3.2K 120Hz OLED display is a visual treat, featuring a 16:10 aspect ratio, 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, and VESA HDR certification. This combination ensures vibrant colors, sharp details, and a smooth viewing experience, which the promotional materials describe as “gorgeous.” For creators and entertainment enthusiasts, the inclusion of OLED is highlighted as a game-changing feature that enhances both work and leisure.

    Long-Lasting Battery Life

Battery life is another area where the Vivobook S 16 shines. With a 75Wh battery offering up to 17+ hours of use, users can say goodbye to “battery anxiety.” The device also supports fast charging, reaching 60% in just 49 minutes, making it ideal for on-the-go users who need reliable and uninterrupted power.

    Thoughtful Features for Everyday Use

ASUS has packed the Vivobook S 16 with additional features to enhance usability. The ErgoSense keyboard and touchpad are designed for comfort, while a dust filter optimizes cooling performance. A variety of I/O ports provide connectivity options, and software like MyASUS and GlideX further enhance the user experience.

A Laptop That Balances Portability and Power

Overall, the ASUS Vivobook S 16 positions itself as a portable powerhouse for users who value high performance, innovative AI capabilities, and stunning visuals. Whether for productivity, content creation, or entertainment, this laptop delivers a well-rounded experience that caters to modern needs.
