For families and small businesses on Camotes Island, a reliable internet connection can mean easier access to school, work, customers, and essential services.
PLDT Home has expanded its fiber network across the municipalities of San Francisco, Poro, and Tudela, bringing broadband services to more communities on the island.
Known for its white-sand beaches, caves, and cliff-jumping sites, Camotes is often called the “Lost Horizon of the South.” While its quiet setting attracts tourists, its location can also make reliable connectivity harder to provide.
“Expanding into Camotes Island is about more than extending our network footprint. It is about helping close a connectivity gap that can limit access to opportunities. By bringing reliable fiber connectivity to island communities, PLDT Home is providing families with the digital infrastructure they need to participate more fully in today’s digital economy,” said Menardo “Butch” Jimenez Jr., chief operating officer and chief technology officer of PLDT Inc.
Reliable home internet can help students attend online classes and access learning materials. It can also allow residents to work from home, use online banking and government platforms, consult doctors remotely, and shop or sell products online.
For home-based entrepreneurs and tourism businesses, fiber connectivity can make it easier to promote products, accommodations, and local attractions to customers outside the island. Businesses can also use online tools to accept orders, manage payments, and communicate with visitors.
Residents may subscribe to the PLDT Home Fiber Unli All 1499 plan, which offers unlimited internet with speeds of up to 200 Mbps. It includes 63 Cignal channels, HBO Max Standard, landline calls, and 9GB of Smart mobile data monthly. The data may be shared with up to three nominated Smart or TNT numbers.
PLDT Home worked with local governments and community partners to introduce the service. Information booths are available at Agora Public Market in San Francisco, RBC Business Center near Poro Port, and beside Tudela Municipal Hall.
