Garmin is placing greater emphasis on endurance tracking with its new fēnix 9 series, adding stamina tools designed to help athletes monitor effort and manage their pace during workouts.
The fēnix 9 and fēnix 9 Pro introduce stamina zones and a stamina curve, which provide estimates of endurance across different levels of effort. Garmin says the features use fitness gains and training history to show how endurance changes over time and help users adjust their pacing.
The stamina zones divide effort into five levels, from easy to maximum, with the watch estimating how long a user can sustain each zone based on their current fitness. During running and cycling activities, the zones can be used to keep effort within a target range.
The fēnix 9 can also provide real-time stamina estimates using heart-rate data and VO2 max estimates. Its stamina display includes current stamina, potential stamina and stamina status, giving users an indication of how quickly their available capacity is being depleted or recovering during an activity.
The stamina curve estimates how stamina changes at different intensities, allowing users to assess whether a planned pace or workout is sustainable and track changes in endurance as their training progresses.
Beyond stamina tracking, the fēnix 9 adds improved mapping, expanded rucking features and more indoor rowing metrics. Garmin also introduced Epic, a feature that combines activities recorded over days, weeks or months into a single performance record.
The fēnix 9 starts at P62,690 in the Philippines, while the fēnix 9 Pro starts at P72,690. Both models will be available beginning Sept. 16.
