Epson Philippines Corp. (EPC) took part in guided tree nurturing activities along the Legacy Trail at Masungi Georeserve, reinforcing its long-term commitment to environmental action.
The conservation site sits within the Sierra Madre mountain range, the country’s largest and one that plays a role in shielding Luzon from severe weather. The range also supports biodiversity and nearby communities, making forest protection and restoration a continuing effort rather than a one-time activity.
During the visit, Epson Philippines joined rangers in tree nurturing work along the Legacy Trail. Unlike simple tree planting, tree nurturing focuses on ongoing care such as monitoring growth, protecting young trees, and improving survival rates to ensure forests regenerate over time.
“Tree nurturing reminds us that progress requires patience and responsibility,” said Masako Kusama, president and director of Epson Philippines. “Through the Engineered for Good campaign, we remain committed to actions that create lasting value. We believe that building a legacy means continuing the work long after the moment has passed.”
Guided by Masungi rangers, participants learned practical techniques used in forest restoration and observed how consistent stewardship helps strengthen ecological resilience.
The Legacy Trail encourages visitors to carry forward the lessons learned from the experience and apply them in their daily decisions and communities. Conservation, organizers say, should continue beyond the hike.
The initiative also shows Epson’s presence in the Philippines, where the company has built partnerships and pursued sustainability efforts over the past five decades through its global Engineered for Good campaign.
To mark the activity, participants received commemorative caps from New Era Cap Philippines made using REPREVE recycled fiber. The material transforms post-consumer plastic into textile, highlighting responsible production and resource reuse.
The caps serve as a reminder that environmental stewardship, much like tree nurturing, requires continued care and long-term commitment.
