Roblox has agreed to strengthen its safety measures for children in the Philippines following talks with the government.

The online gaming platform will work with Philippine authorities on better age checks, faster sharing of information for investigations, and tools that can spot harmful content aimed at Filipino children.

“These are concrete commitments. Now, the focus is on implementation,” Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary Henry Aguda said, in a media release.

One of the first steps is the creation of a technical working group. It will study whether Roblox can use facial age estimates, government IDs, or the Philippine Identification System to check a user’s age.

The goal is to make it harder for children to access content or features that are not meant for them.

Roblox also promised to provide relevant information more quickly when authorized government agencies investigate possible crimes or threats. The release of information will remain subject to Philippine laws and proper legal procedures.

Philippine law enforcement agencies will continue to be given access to the Kodex Law Enforcement Portal. The secure system allows authorities to contact Roblox at any time about investigations and legal requests.

Roblox will also assign an officer who will work directly with Philippine agencies, including the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). This is expected to shorten the time needed to coordinate cases.

The company is also willing to improve its safety tools so they can better recognize Filipino words, phrases, and other content that may signal abuse or danger. The DICT and NBI, for their part, will monitor harmful activities that move between different online platforms.

“We are taking a platform-by-platform approach. Roblox is one step. We are also looking at other platforms where children and young people spend their time online,” Aguda said.

Parents were also urged to use tools that limit direct messages and friend requests, filter explicit content, and allow them to monitor their children’s accounts.

The meeting also included officials from the NBI, National Telecommunications Commission, Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center, Congress, and Office of the Executive Secretary.
