Music streaming platform Spotify is testing a new feature that allows users to influence how the platform recommends music and other audio content.

Called Taste Profile, the tool gives listeners a clearer view of how Spotify interprets their listening habits and lets them adjust the signals that shape personalized recommendations.

The feature is currently rolling out in beta to Spotify Premium users in New Zealand, the company said.

Spotify explained in its blog, that a user’s taste profile is built from various listening behaviors on the platform, which include songs that are played, skipped, saved, or searched.

With the new beta tool, Spotify said users can see patterns in their listening activity and provide feedback that helps refine future recommendations.

The company said Taste Profile gives listeners more visibility into how their listening behavior shapes what they see across the app and allows them to influence their profile more directly.

Spotify has not announced when the feature will roll out beyond the initial beta test, but said that the feature will continue to evolve as it gathers feedback from users participating in the early testing phase.
