Apple’s back with another round of hardware announcements, and this time, everything revolves around its newest powerhouse: the M5 chip.
The M5 is Apple’s next-generation silicon built to make everything from video editing to AI image generation faster, smoother, and way more efficient. It packs a 10-core GPU with a Neural Accelerator inside every core (yep, every single one), giving it up to 4x the peak GPU performance of the M4. Add a more powerful CPU, a faster Neural Engine, and boosted memory bandwidth, and you’ve got a chip designed for an AI-heavy future.
In short: if your workflow involves anything remotely “smart”, from real-time photo enhancement to on-device AI tools, this chip is made for that.
The M5 MacBook Pro: More power, less plug time

The first device to get the M5 treatment is the new 14-inch MacBook Pro, and Apple’s calling it “the next big leap in AI for the Mac.”
It’s reportedly up to 3.5x faster for AI workflows, with noticeable boosts in graphics and performance compared to the previous M4 generation. But the real shocker? Up to 24 hours of battery life.
That’s a full day (and night) of editing, coding, or bingeing Apple TV+ without scrambling for your charger. And of course, it still comes with that Liquid Retina XDR display, fast memory architecture, and all the premium touches that make a MacBook Pro feel… well, Pro.
The M5 iPad Pro: The ultra-portable creative machine

Not to be left out, the new iPad Pro also gets the M5 upgrade, and it might just be Apple’s most powerful tablet yet.
It sports a stunning Ultra Retina XDR display for hyper-detailed visuals, and it’s among the first Apple devices to support Wi-Fi 7 for lightning-fast connectivity. Pair that with iPadOS 26’s improved multitasking tools and new AI-powered features, and you’re looking at a tablet that’s inching closer to laptop-level performance.
Apple claims up to 4x faster performance in creative tasks like 3D rendering and AI-assisted photo editing — which basically means your iPad can now keep up with your desktop, minus the weight.
The bigger picture: Apple’s AI future
Apple’s clearly setting the stage for a more AI-driven ecosystem. With the same M5 chip powering both the MacBook Pro and iPad Pro, the line between the two devices is blurrier than ever, one built for endurance, the other for portability, but both capable of running serious AI workloads natively.
No word yet on local pricing or release dates for the Philippines, but given Apple’s usual rollout schedule, expect these devices to land here soon.
For now, consider the M5 as the next big step in Apple’s plan: AI that feels invisible, seamless, and just works.
