The Hollyland Lark M2 wireless mic combo: versatile, professional, and affordable

If you’re a content creator looking to level up your game, you shouldn’t fade on the Hollyland Lark M2. As someone who has been on the go lately, I’ve been trying to figure out a new setup for my content creation needs that’s (a) pocktable and (b) modular.

For my setup, I have my trusty smartphone, a Fuji X-T30ii, and a GoPro HERO12 with an AI tracking gimbal. The one thing I lacked was a versatile wireless mic that could fit on all three of these devices.

A wireless mic makes a huge difference in content consumption. Cheap mics from Lazada that cost around P300 will do the job but may have their share of woes in editing: audio syncs are usually inaccurate and there are times when the audio will just drop out. There are some really good options for next-generation quality wireless mics such as the ones from DJI but to be honest I find these overpriced. In one of my trips, Lea of Unbox.PH showed me her ultra-portable setup consisting of her camera and the Hollyland Lark M2 kit. It comes in several configurations, but for P10,200 you can get the full kit which includes two mics, a 3.5mm coldshoe adapter, and both USB-C + Lightning receivers. The cold shoe receiver and mics come with a charging box that claims 40 hours of battery life for recording.

    It’s literally plug and play

As a content creator that wants to get the technicals out of the way fast, I’m amazed at how easy the setup experience is. You literally just have to plug in the receiver to your device, clip the mics, and voila! You’re done! The mics come with several options for clipping including a built-in mic magnet, lanyard clip, or lapel clip.

For my purposes, I was able to setup the mic with my GoPro HERO12. This entailed using the media attachment (sold separately) so I could connect the cold shoe mount with the 3.5mm jack of the media mod. In effect I was able to build an Osmo Pocket 3 system with the GoPro + Hohem AI gimbal.

For audio quality, it’s really quite decent for your vlogging needs. I was in Paris for Samsung Unpacked 2024 and one mic can actually handle an interview when you’re within 1 meter of the subject. The combo kit, as I’ve mentioned, comes with two wireless mics. Here’s a video I recorded while in Paris using the mic. Have a watch:

    Pricing

    • Lark M2 Duo Combo P10,200 (this is honestly the best deal)
    • Lark M2 Duo Camera (cold shoe) P8,900
    • Lark M2 Duo Lightning for iPhone P8,900
    • Lark M2 Duo USB-C P8,200

As you can see, it really makes more sense to buy the full combo as it includes the most versatile package for Android, iOS, and cameras or other devices that can utilize a 3.5mm jack for audio transmission.
