Information and Communications Technology Secretary Henry Aguda said he remains focused on his duties amid reports of his resignation, stressing that he serves at the pleasure of the President.
In a statement, Aguda acknowledged circulating reports about his position but did not directly confirm or deny that he had submitted his resignation.
“At this time, I remain focused on carrying out my responsibilities and ensuring the continuity of the Department’s work,” he said.
The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) chief said he recognizes the President’s authority over matters concerning the Cabinet and the administration.
He added that he fully respects the President’s prerogative, while maintaining that his attention remains on carrying out his responsibilities.
Aguda emphasized the need to sustain the department’s work as the Philippines hosts the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) this year.
He cited DICT’s role in advancing regional engagements on technology and innovation, including the ASEAN AI MSME event this week.
The event concerns artificial intelligence and micro, small and medium enterprises.
Aguda said it was important for the department to continue fulfilling its role in these engagements as part of the country’s hosting responsibilities.
The secretary reiterated that his focus remained on performing his duties and serving the public.
“My focus remains on carrying out my responsibilities and serving the Filipino people to the best of my ability,” he said.
