Online gaming platform Roblox will not be banned in the Philippines after agreeing to improve safety measures for children, government agencies said.

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) reached the decision after a meeting on April 7, 2026, with Roblox officials, law enforcement, and private sector representatives.

The possible ban had raised concerns in recent weeks following reports that the platform was being used for online child abuse, including Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children.

The Philippines is seen as a major market for Roblox, with about 5.1 million daily active users this year based on estimates from IconEra, a gaming community.

DICT said Roblox agreed to put stronger protections in place. These include better monitoring of content, easier ways to report harmful activity, and stricter controls to make sure children only see content suitable for their age.

“Digital safety is the responsibility of the platform, the government, and every family. Let us work together to monitor and protect Filipino children in the online space,” the DICT said.

Roblox will also hold an information campaign on April 12 to guide parents on how to keep their children safe while using the platform.

For parents, Roblox offers tools that can help manage a child’s activity online, including monitoring screen time, setting limits on in-game spending, blocking inappropriate games or experiences, and choosing content based on the child’s age.

The issue escalated in March when authorities warned Roblox to respond quickly to safety concerns. The deadline was briefly shortened before being reset to 30 days, leading to the meeting that resolved the issue.

DICT said it will continue to check if platforms like Roblox follow safety rules to better protect Filipino children online.
