Samsung unveils a smarter lineup of AI home innovations at the Southeast Asia Tech Seminar in Bangkok, Thailand.

Smart home devices are becoming so essential to our lives that they are shaping how we move through each day. In the age of Generative AI scrutiny, the once far-fetched possibilities of Artificial Intelligence now actually get the hard work done for you so you can focus on your priorities. And not the other way around.

To learn more about its increasingly purposeful upgrades, PhilSTAR Tech joined journalists from Southeast Asian countries who flew to Bangkok, Thailand, to witness the annual SEA Tech Seminar innovation showcase, held at Samsung’s brand-new Business Experience Studio (BES).

Business Experience Studio in Bangkok is a newly opened dedicated space for business clients to explore Samsung’s latest innovations and solutions.

It was my first time in Bangkok, a city I had previously associated more with the sanuk culture and the OG Thai milk tea that bubbles at the thought of bubble teas. What I didn’t realize was that this urban jungle was fast becoming a Southeast Asian tech hub, an ideal port of call for Samsung to unveil its vision of the “AI Home.”

Samsung’s vision rests on four pillars: Ease, Save, Care, and Secure. While the ecosystem of convenience promises efficiency to many and assistance to a few, there’s one all-encompassing element that makes it ultra-reliable: connection.

“We are continuously exploring new ways to enhance user convenience by creating seamless synergy across our products,” said Daren Tay, VP and Regional Head of Digital Appliances for Southeast Asia and Oceania of Samsung Electronics.

The Southeast Asia Tech Seminar featured hands-on demos and future-ready product innovations for a smarter home.

One of the most tangible expressions of this connection is the AI Home display, now available across more Samsung appliances. Serving as a central control hub, the screen allows users to access key functions, view personalized information through the Daily Board, and manage their smart home using Map View. It also integrates third-party devices via the SmartThings app, removing the need for a separate hub and creating a more unified experience.

The AI Home display panel offers intuitive controls and real-time updates across Samsung’s smart appliances.

Hours before arriving at the event, I’ll admit I wasn’t expecting much. Maybe the infamous robot vacuum that responds to a simple voice command, or a design showcase that sounds technical rather than future-focused. But we were welcomed into a small, intimate living space where the demos unfolded like I was already living my life in it: I’m washing the clothes without a second look, swinging open a fridge door on cue, adjusting the room temperature while I sleep, and keeping tabs on my home’s energy use. I can do everything else now. This is how home tech should feel. Human. Connected.

The more I immersed myself in the experience, the more it felt like regaining control. Powered by a SmartThings-enabled phone and the connection that lingers between you and your art or job or weekend respite, you sought the phone taps and the “Hey Bixbys” to make everything in your life work seamlessly together.

Here’s how the new Samsung AI Home lineup is making that happen.

    Wash and Learn

Laundry needs vary greatly from household to household in the Philippines, but can we all agree that it should be one of the most intuitive parts of our home routine, considering how time-consuming it can be?

For the first time, AI Wash, which is once exclusive to front-load washers, is now available on the new Bespoke AI Top Load Washer, so top-load fans get the benefit of smart sensors that detect your laundry load and fabric softness to fine-tune every wash cycle. It also comes with AI Energy Mode, which optimizes power usage, and AI VRT+, which helps reduce vibration and noise, especially helpful for anyone living in compact spaces or night owls doing late laundry.

The Bespoke AI Washer and Dryer Set with AI Wash+ and Dry+ tech detects fabric types to automatically adjust water levels and spin speed.

Then there’s the Bespoke AI Washer and Dryer set, now equipped with AI Wash+ and AI Dry+, which can recognize a broader range of fabric types for a more personalized wash-and-dry routine. No more guessing if your linens and delicates should go together—the washer adapts temperature and spin speed to suit. It even senses how soiled the water gets mid-cycle and adjusts detergent or wash time for a deeper clean.

I especially liked the addition of the sleek AI Home Screen, which lets you see your cycle status at a glance, check detergent levels, and even get helpful prompts. It kinda shifts the experience from a mindless task to a mindful habit.

    Talk to the Fridge

What was once a humble appliance has been reimagined under the brand’s “Screens Everywhere” concept, first teased at CES 2025 and now very much real. One of the biggest upgrades of the Samsung Bespoke AI™ Refrigerator Line is the 9-inch AI Home display built right into the door. From managing your groceries to keeping an eye on your calendar, you can easily choose the fridge (sorry, washer) as your control center as soon as it catches up with your AI Home. The enhanced AI Family Hub™ experience also has fewer taps and an intuitive interface that learns how your household moves.

The Bespoke AI™ Refrigerator includes an AI Home display and sensor-activated door that responds to touch or voice command.

A highlight for Southeast Asia is the new Side-by-Side model, which now comes with AI Energy Mode, thanks to built-in Wi-Fi. That means you can monitor and manage your energy use straight from the SmartThings app.

But the coolest part of the device isn’t from the inside. It’s the Wide Auto Open Door that lets you lightly touch the sensor zones and opens automatically (with a subtle sound to let you know it’s happening). Sensor lights make the touchpoints easy to spot, and with no bulky handles sticking out, the whole design looks clean and seamless.

You can even say, “Hi Bixby, open the fridge,” and it’ll do the work for you. With Bixby built-in, you can select functions or ask questions using your voice. The latest update even lets Bixby understand multiple commands in one sentence and respond based on previous interactions. Move over, nonchalant fridges.

Air Conditioners With a Warm Gesture

Samsung’s latest air conditioning update is all about comfort that works in the background, or literally while you sleep. The new WindFree™ Good Sleep mode connects with your Galaxy Watch or Galaxy Ring, allowing the system to automatically adjust the room temperature based on your sleep stage. Whether you’re just drifting off or in deep REM, the air conditioner regulates the climate to support more restful sleep.

The WindFree™ air conditioner connects to your Galaxy wearables to adjust the climate based on your sleep stage.

This mode pairs with WindFree™ Cooling, which gently disperses air through 10,000 micro holes to eliminate harsh drafts and maintain a steady cool. Also showcased is Samsung’s new system air conditioner (SAC) lineup with built-in Wi-Fi, making it easy to control everything remotely via SmartThings.

Here’s to those who wake up in the middle of the night, fumbling with the remote to dial the temp down EVERY TIME.

    Smart Suckers

Expecting something loud, bulky, and only slightly more advanced than a broom? You have to try this one for yourself.

The Bespoke AI Jet Ultra has made its entrance as the world’s most powerful cordless stick vacuum, packing an impressive 400W of suction power on its HexaJet Motor. That’s pure muscle in a nimble frame, but what stands out to me is the thoughtfulness behind it. With AI Cleaning Mode 2.0, the device detects the type of surface it’s on and adjusts its power accordingly. We’ve tested it on thresholds and a few textured corners of the BES living room, and it glided smoothly across already-cleaned carpet, tile, mats, and hardwood while still managing to pick up fine traces of dust.

The Bespoke Jet™ AI Ultra delivers powerful suction and smart surface detection for seamless cleaning..

The full system comes with an upgraded AI algorithm that cranks up a diagnosis for maintenance, and (what I think has been missing from most cordless vac sticks on the market) a self-emptying dock. The Bespoke AI Jet Ultra delivers that with its All-in-One Clean Station, which automatically empties the dustbin and charges the vacuum in one seamless motion so you can quickly go back to your siesta.

A clean home is a luxury, but one that doesn’t ask for much of your attention? That’s what sweep dreams are made of.
