If you grew up playing video games, chances are you ran into some of the best and greatest titles because of Capcom – one of the biggest Japanese video game companies that is largely responsible for creating a number of multi-million-selling game franchises. Established first in 1979 as a manufacturer and distributer of electronic game machines, the Capcom Co. Ltd we know today was founded in 1983 – and soon paved the way to create some very iconic titles for the arcade and home gaming markets. Celebrating their 40th anniversary just last year, the company has collaborated with Uniqlo to create a series of shirts that feature designs based from their rich and popular library of games – which were selected by UT creative director Kosuke Kawamura and all together make up the Capcom 40th Anniversary Collection that is now out locally courtesy of Uniqlo Philippines.

Featuring a selection of iconic prints representing Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, Mega Man, Devil May Cry, Ghosts n’ Goblins, Final Fight, and even a commemorative Capcom 40th anniversary poster that sees an all-star line-up of fan favorite character, the collection celebrates 4 decades of the company’s impressive legacy of games and IPs that have been released through various gaming platforms over the years as well as featuring in various forms of media such as movies, anime, books, and more. The shirts were officially released this March 18 on all Uniqlo PH stores nationwide, so if you happen to visit a branch or prefer ordering items online – these products are now available for customers to get while supplies last!

As a longtime fan of the company and its works, I wasted no time visiting the nearest Uniqlo branch in my area to grab some of these designs and add it to my growing collection of tees based on video games I grew up playing and admiring through the years. One design that definitely caught my eye in the catalog was the one based on the remake of Resident Evil 4 – which was released almost one year ago this month and is arguably one of the best remakes of a game that helped revolutionized the series and the gaming industry as a whole. The shirt features the game logo printed on the left breast area, as well as a back print collage that shows the two leads, Leon S. Kennedy and Ashley Graham, and the various enemies seen in the game. It’s just one of a number of impressive looking designs to choose from, and I’ll describe some of the others in little detail.

Another impressive design is the Capcom 40th Anniversary poster shirt that features almost every fan favorite character known through the company’s rich history. Characters seen include Ryu, Chun-Li, Cammy, and even Street Fighter 6’s new main character Luke, as well as Devil May Cry’s Dante and Nero, Darkstalkers femme fatale lead Morrigan, two versions of the Blue Bomber Mega Man, and the heroes of the Resident Evil series in Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, Leon S. Kennedy, and Ada Wong. There’s also the monsters and creatures seen in the Monster Hunter series, and the main leads from Sengoku Basara, Ghosts n’ Goblins, and Ace Attorney series respectively.

Those are just two of the designs that caught my eye and will undoubtedly sell fast. Aside from the known brands like Street Fighter and Monster Hunter, I’m happy to see that classic Capcom games are getting representation too in Final Fight and Ghosts n’ Goblins too. They’re just as popular and iconic as the other games the company has made, and the legacy and impact they’ve carved out helped make the gaming industry what it is today. There’s always a sense of history wearing these shirts that represent great memories of games that have come and gone – and wearing it with pride and nostalgia always makes it worth investing in, so pick up your Capcom 40th Anniversary Collection shirts at Uniqlo Philippines now!

The Capcom 40th Anniversary Collection is now available at Uniqlo PH branches and are priced at P790 each.
