HONOR X7c: The RuggeDARLING to end 2024

Back in the 2000’s, before social media, Netflix, and Android devices, many tech enthusiasts obsessed about the concept of “ruggedizing” their devices. This was the janky era of tech where LED screens snapped and a bit of water damage short-circuited your PDA (a personal digital assistant, the precursor to the smartphone). Makeshift waterproof cases, silica gel packs, and “jackets for your gadgets” defined the weird era of early waterproofing. And here’s the thing – waterproofing your gadgets wasn’t cheap. Who would have thought that today, you can find a device that’s truly rugged: dust proof and water resistant for only P8,999.

Enter the HONOR X7c – a rugged performance phone with a 5-Star Drop Resistance Swiss SGS Premium Performance Certification. The device is rated IP64 which means it is dust proof and splash proof. The claim, which we put to the test, is that the phone itself is splash proof and can be submerged at a maximum depth of 8 inches in fresh water for 3 minutes. The use case here is clear: in a country prone to a harsh rainy season, you’ll be comforted to know that this phone is built to be weatherproof. Not only will it survive a bad fall, it will survive falling into flood water (or accidentally in a toilet bowl). I put this to the test submerging it with the camera recording in my dog’s feeding bowl with kibble and water, watching it eat from a unique POV camera. It survived.

The HONOR X7c is also a performance device. Equipped with a long-lasting 6000mAh battery, it powers through up to 28.5 hours of streaming or 21.5 hours of YouTube playback. With 256GB of internal storage for extensive data and photos, the HONOR X7c also features RAM Turbo Technology, delivering a seamless 16GB RAM experience (8GB physical + 8GB virtual) for superior performance. Again, imagine the use case: during a calamity where the power is out, you’ll be glad to know that at the very least you will have a communication device that can last for extended periods of time and can weather a storm and flood.

For gaming, the X7c is a decent upgrade from its predecessor as it now runs on an Adreno 610 GPU for mid tier gaming performance on a Snapdragon 685 chipset (we got Antutu scores of 354000). Pop in your 6000mAh battery, a lovely 120Hz 6.77” TFT LCD screen, a 3.5mm headphone jack, 35W SuperCharge, a main 108MP (f/1.75) camera, I’m quite surprised that this is all in a neat package of less than P10,000.

As an early bird promo, HONOR is giving away free Camping Light Speaker for every purchase of the X7c from November 8-10 only. The device is now available at any HONOR Experience and Partner Stores or online via the following links:
