As the Chief Technology Officer at home, dads have a big say in keeping the home cool and comfortable with smarter appliances

Let’s face it—dads today do more than just mow the lawn and teach the kids how to ride a bike. These days, many of them – like me –  double as the unofficial CTO of the household: Chief Technology Officer. From managing WiFi dead zones, managing the smart appliances, to making the call on that air conditioning upgrade, I’ve become accustomed to my role of managing the seemingly “invisible” things at home but have an impact on everyone’s quality of life.

So this Father’s Day, I’m putting the spotlight on tech-savvy dads who want their homes to run smoother, smarter, and cooler. Whether he’s optimizing the family’s energy consumption, making sure the bedrooms are chill (literally), or managing appliances with a few taps on his phone, we’ve got the perfect gear to match every “dad tech type.”

And who better to partner with on this mission than Midea, the World’s No.1 Smart Home Appliances Brand and the global leader in residential inverter air conditioners?

I’ve decided to name the different dad archetypes that many of my fellow dads have grown into (including me!)

#1 — The Efficiency Dad: Always looking for the best watt-per-peso ratio

This dad knows the Meralco bill by heart. He’s all about energy efficiency, automated timers, and appliances that don’t bleed electricity when idle. When the bill goes up by just P300, he tries to figure out if certain appliances were left on by accident that month. What a sleuth!

His pick: Midea Avigator Full DC Inverter Series

With AI-powered Smart Control that can cut electricity consumption by up to 40%, this AC adjusts to your lifestyle and doesn’t waste a watt. And yes—it cools your room down by 6°C in just 10 minutes. He can even turn it on or off remotely using his phone.

#2 — The Comfort Connoisseur: A.K.A. “It’s too cold in here!” Dad

He loves a good nap and believes airflow should never hit your face directly. This is the dad who understands that everyone at home has different levels of comfort. Some love a low cool with the air being displaced by an electric fan. Other family members like being blasted with cold air until they fall asleep.

His pick: Midea AirstillPro Full DC Inverter Series

With three breeze modes (Away, Mild, and Breezeless), this AC knows when to chill—and when to chill softly. Whether dad wants a gentle wind or full-on fortress of solitude levels of cold, he’s covered.

#3 — The Tough Build Dad: “Bili na tayo ng matibay.”

If your dad has ever said “pangmatagalan dapat ‘yan,” this one’s for him. He wants tech that won’t quit, especially in harsh weather or salty coastal air. On a personal note, I own one of these and though this is built mostly for coastal communities, it is also meant for areas with high dust build up (like near construction sites or densely populated cities).

His pick: Midea Celest Full DC Inverter Series

Its Prime Guard Hyper Grapfins coating is 12.5x more resilient than blue-coated fins, and it comes with hassle-free self-cleaning. This is a set-it-and-forget-it kind of upgrade for any fortress of a home.

#4 — The Condo Dad: Maximum cooling, minimum footprint

For dads in smaller spaces or shared apartments who want all the power without the bulk, meet your new summer savior.

His pick: Midea Qube Compact Window-Type Inverter AC

It’s sleek, small, and still a full DC Inverter. Measuring just 345mm (H) x 471mm (W) x 482mm (D), this AC fits perfectly in condo units or tiny home offices—proof that compact size doesn’t mean compromising on performance.

#5 — The Hybrid Dad: Wants it all, minus the complicated installation

He loves the cooling power of a split-type unit but hates the installation hassle. He wants easy wins, and this AC is one of them.

His pick: Midea Window/Split Inverter Series

It combines the best of both worlds—split-type efficiency with window-type convenience. No compromises here.

Bonus: Dad’s Secret Weapon on laundry day

Midea’s appliances go beyond cooling, too. For laundry days (yes, dads help out!), there’s the Midea 12kg/8kg Luna Inverter Front Load Combo Washing Machine. With WiFi Control, dad can load laundry, hit start from his phone, and go back to watching the game.

Features like Steam Care, HealthGuard™ sterilization, and Inverter Quattro technology mean the clothes come out fresh, germ-free, and with less power used per wash.

    Keep it fresh, Dad-Style

Don’t sleep on Midea’s 16.7cu ft Multi-Door Smart Inverter Refrigerator either. With 360° Air Cooling, a Smart Sensor, and Vario Box temp zones, it keeps your groceries—and beers—at just the right chill.

This Father’s Day, maybe skip the socks and grill sets. Give dad the real dream upgrade: a smarter, cooler home he can control with his phone. And with Midea—the world’s #1 in smart home appliances—you’re not just getting comfort, you’re investing in efficiency, reliability, and tech dad can proudly geek out on.

Because in every Filipino home, there’s a dad somewhere, quietly acting as the CTO—making smart choices so the family can stay cool, comfy, and connected.
