Google has rolled out a major update to Google Chrome in the Philippines, adding built-in artificial intelligence (AI) powered by Gemini 3.1 to make browsing faster and easier to understand.

The update introduces an AI assistant inside Chrome’s side panel, allowing users to ask questions, summarize articles, or generate ideas without leaving the page they are on. Instead of switching tabs or copying text into another app, users can now interact with content directly while browsing.

The feature is designed to simplify everyday tasks. Users can turn long articles into short summaries, create a quick reviewer or quiz, or adjust content such as recipes based on preferences. Chrome can also remember previously visited pages, helping users manage multiple tabs more efficiently.

Google is also connecting Chrome with its other services, including Gmail, Maps, Calendar, and YouTube. This means users can take action immediately after finding information. For example, they can send an email, schedule a meeting, or check a location without opening a new tab. Email drafts can even be written and sent directly from the browser’s side panel, with an option to review before sending.

The AI can combine information from different pages into one view, which is useful for planning events or comparing products when shopping online.

Nano Banana 2 allows users to edit or transform images using simple text prompts. This can be used for tasks like visualizing room designs or experimenting with layouts without needing separate software.

Chrome includes protections against threats such as prompt injection and requires user confirmation before performing sensitive actions like sending emails or adding calendar events.

The AI-powered Chrome update is initially available on desktop and iOS, while Android users can access Gemini through their device controls. More features and wider availability are expected in the coming months.
