An expert in the information technology (IT) industry has urged other decision-makers, cybersecurity professionals and users to keep with the latest technologies to actively secure intelligent systems amid cybersecurity’s “unprecedented pace.”
“Our duty extends beyond safeguarding traditional IT infrastructure to ensuring the robust security of devices that are integral part of our daily lives,” VST ECS Phils. Inc. president and CEO Jimmy Go said during his keynote speech on the opening day of the CXO Innovation Summit 2023 at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Mactan, Cebu.
“This involves continuous monitoring for vulnerabilities and incorporating security as a fundamental aspect of system design.”
For the past week, there were consequent reports of cybersecurity attacks against government institutions. Three attacks followed after the first incident made against the state heath insurer, PhilHealth.
This rise in cyberattacks has spurred urgent measures in enhancing cybersecurity in the country.
Go said that while IT will be stronger in the coming years, cybercrimes have become more agile as well with the aid of artificial intelligence.
“Cybercriminals are now leveraging AI to orchestrate sophisticated attacks, such as engineering schemes, data poisoning, and deepfakes,” the tech president.
With that said, Go called actors in the tech-cybersecurity industry as “protectors of the digital world.”
“In this new era, our responsibility extends beyond the boundaries of our organizations to safeguard the privacy, security, and well-being of individuals,” He added.
Go acknowledged that today’s technologies have led many be “at a crossroad.” He said that it is not a question of whether or not the world embraces technology but it is in how people can harness it “most effectively.”
CXO Tech Summit 2023 gathered technology industry’s pioneers, professionals and other companies to learn about the current digital landscape and the necessary skills and equipment to navigate it.
This year’s theme is Digital Transformation: Growth and Resilient Cybersecurity and is the sixth installation of the summit.
