Canon’s latest gear drop: EOS R50 V, PowerShot V1, and RF-S14-30mm lens built for creators who just want to hit ‘record’

Livestreamers, vloggers, and short-form storytellers, this one’s for you. Canon’s new gear is all about helping you shoot smarter, faster, and without all the complicated stuff.

Canon just dropped the EOS R50 V, the PowerShot V1, and the RF-S14-30mm f/4-6.3 IS STM PZ lens—three new tools built with creators in mind.

“The PowerShot V Series and EOS V Series cameras are for Filipino creators with a growing enthusiasm for capturing life’s moments and creating enjoyable video content. These cutting-edge tools are designed with portability, ease of use, and high-quality output in mind. Whether it’s vlogging, livestreaming, or crafting short films, these cameras empower creators to elevate their storytelling with the versatility and reliability Canon is known for,” said Jian Liu, Director for Consumer Information and Imaging, Canon Marketing Philippines.

So, what’s new?

The EOS R50 V is for creators who want something more serious than a smartphone but still want it to be easy. It’s got a 24.2MP APS-C sensor, which is about the size you’d find in Canon’s cinema line. Translation? Pro-level quality without pro-level headaches.

The PowerShot V1 is a pocket-sized compact that’s all about video. Its larger-than-usual 1.4-inch sensor means sharper footage and better low-light performance. The built-in zoom lens (17–52mm for video) covers everything from face-to-camera vlogging to wider shots with room to breathe.

And then there’s the RF-S14-30mm f/4-6.3 IS STM PZ, Canon’s first lens with built-in power zoom. Perfect for those smooth transitions and tighter framing, minus the post-editing hustle.

Designed to Shoot Like You Do

Canon clearly had creators in mind here. Both cameras ditch the bulky viewfinder, so they’re lighter and easier to balance on gimbals or grips. Buttons are where you’d want them, especially for one-handed shooting.

The EOS R50 V puts livestreaming and color tweaks just a button away, adds a zoom lever, and even builds in vertical shooting-friendly touches like a tripod socket on the side and a rotating info display.

The PowerShot V1 goes even further into the video-first mindset, packing a wide f/2.8–4.5 lens and an internal cooling fan (yes, really) so you don’t have to worry about overheating during long shoots.

Looks Good, Right Out of the Box

Canon added stuff like Smooth Skin mode and built-in color filters to help your videos look polished with zero editing. Focus is quick and sharp thanks to Dual Pixel CMOS AF II, and footage stays stable with Movie Digital IS.

You’ve got uncropped 4K 30p, 4K 60p (with crop), Full HD slow-mo at up to 120p, and 10-bit Canon Log 3 for grading in post. And yes, you can still shoot RAW stills and manual modes, if that’s your jam.

Plug In, Stream Easy

USB-C makes both cameras plug-and-play webcams. They also play nice with Canon’s Camera Connect app over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi for remote control and easy sharing.

EOS R50 V: Pocket Pro

This little guy punches way above its weight. The EOS R50 V borrows a bunch of features from Canon’s Cinema EOS line, including custom picture profiles, LUTs, HDR PQ, and HLG formats. You’ll also get advanced formats like XF-HEVC S and XF-AVC S, plus tools like false color for more pro control.

There’s Slow & Fast Motion modes, a new Cinema View that adjusts frame rates and angles, and Full HD 100p/120p with audio.

Audio-wise, it’s stacked with 3-mic noise reduction and supports LPCM 24-bit 4-channel input—great for interviews, live music, or anything with layered sound.

Other smart tricks include face priority tracking and 4K 60p livestreaming via USB-C. Pair it with Canon’s Live Switcher app and you’ve got multi-cam capability from your phone.

PowerShot V1: Compact But Mighty

Think of it as a mashup between the PowerShot V10 and the G7 X Mark III but better. It’s got a big sensor, a 3-stop ND filter for bright conditions, and Canon’s pro-level autofocus.

One standout? Subject Tracking IS. It keeps your subject steady in-frame by adjusting stabilization based on where they are. Ideal for creators who move around a lot while filming.

RF-S14-30mm PZ: First Power Zoom for RF

Small but mighty, this new lens is Canon’s first RF lens with built-in power zoom. It’s only 181g and 6cm long, but gives you smooth zoom transitions right from the lens ring, the EOS R50 V’s lever, or even your phone via the Canon app.

Image stabilization is built-in (5 stops), and works even better when paired with cameras that support Coordinated IS. The wide end gives you 22.4mm equivalent framing—ideal for handheld and selfie shots. Zoom in for tighter portraits or close-up product detail with 0.15m minimum focus.

Creative Tools, Real Impact

Canon’s new gear is made to work the way creators do—fast, flexible, and ready to roll. No learning curve. No overthinking. Just press record and make something great.
