As the Philippines accelerates its adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI), PLDT Enterprise, ePLDT, and VITRO Inc. are leading the charge in building the critical infrastructure needed to support the country’s AI-driven transformation.

At a recent Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) event, PLDT reaffirmed their continued commitment to enabling businesses with the tools, connectivity, and computing power required to thrive in an AI-powered economy. This aligns with PLDT Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan’s key insights on the vast potential of AI and the need to overcome its adoption barriers, including infrastructure gaps, talent development, and regulatory challenges.

A Robust AI Ecosystem: Strengthening Infrastructure for the Future

“AI’s success is deeply rooted in the quality and resilience of the infrastructure that supports it,” said Jojo Gendrano, Senior Vice President & Head of Enterprise Business Group at PLDT and Smart. “Through PLDT Enterprise, ePLDT, and VITRO Inc., we are delivering an ecosystem that enables enterprises to fully maximize AI’s potential while ensuring reliability, security, and efficiency.”

As AI revolutionizes industries, a strong and scalable digital backbone is critical to its success. VITRO Sta. Rosa (VSR), the country’s first AI-ready hyperscale data center, is a catalyst for AI adoption. Connected to PLDT’s extensive fiber network and subsea cable systems, VSR ensures that businesses have access to high-speed, low-latency computing essential for AI-driven innovation.

GPU as a Service: Empowering AI-Driven Industries

VSR also activated ePLDT’s NVIDIA powered GPU servers that will allow ePLDT, the ICT arm of the PLDT Group, to offer GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS). This high-performance computing solution will enable government and enterprises to leverage the full potential of AI without significant capital expenditure by providing on-demand access to Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) specifically to drive AI workloads.

Industries poised to benefit from this service include:

    1. Financial Services: AI-driven fraud detection and real-time risk assessment.
    2. Retail & E-Commerce: Personalized customer experiences through predictive analytics.
    3. Healthcare: AI-assisted diagnostics, medical imaging, and research advancements.
    4. Manufacturing: Smart automation, predictive maintenance, and process optimization.

Victor S. Genuino, President and CEO of ePLDT and VITRO Inc., highlighted the importance of this offering: “Our objective is to accelerate the adoption of AI by making it accessible to government and businesses of all sizes. Through GPU-as-a-Service, we are providing enterprises with scalable, cost-effective computing power to enhance efficiencies and drive digital transformation.”

    Driving the Philippines’ Digital Leadership

By leveraging AI-ready data centers, cloud-based solutions, and an expansive digital infrastructure, PLDT Enterprise, ePLDT, and VITRO Inc. are positioning the Philippines as a competitive hub for AI-driven innovation in the region.

“As AI continues to reshape industries, we remain focused on our mission to provide future-ready solutions that matter—solutions that empower businesses, drive economic growth, and push the boundaries of what’s possible in a digital-first world,” added Gendrano.

These initiatives align with PLDT’s commitment to close the digital divide through digital solutions, contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG), particularly on SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure.
