Infinix GT Book Review: A Solid ‘Budget’ Gaming Laptop with a Few Quirks

I’ve been reviewing Infinix products for a while now, and one thing that’s consistent about the brand is that they make tech that doesn’t drain your wallet. They’ve clearly got their eyes set on the budget gaming crowd, especially with their mobile devices.

But when they sent me the Infinix GT Book, I realized they’re not just about phones – they’re serious about gaming laptops too.

(Now, when I say “budget,” I mean way more affordable than most other gaming laptops, which usually start at PHP 90,000 and up.)

First Impressions and Unboxing

We actually unboxed the Infinix GT Book during one of our recent livestreams. If you missed it, here’s a quick recap.

Another thing I like about reviewing Infinix products is that they don’t scrimp on the packaging. While most brands are going the minimalist route, Infinix has kept the novelty of unboxing alive with its detailed presentation. The packaging is pretty impressive, and while the accessories inside aren’t top-tier, there’s still a sense of excitement when you’re unboxing it.

I mean, who doesn’t love free stuff, right?

What’s in the Box?

You get a programmable gaming mouse, a headset, and a massive mouse pad that’s decked out with LED lights around the edges—very gamer-like.

The mouse is pretty comfortable, whether you’ve got big hands or small ones, and there’s software already installed on the laptop to tweak it just how you like.

The headset is… well, it’s there. It’s on the bigger side, so if you’ve got a smaller head, it might feel a bit bulky. Honestly, if you care about sound quality, you might want to stick with your own headset. But hey, free is free!

Build and Design

One thing that stood out to me right away is how solid the GT Book feels. Sure, the keyboard isn’t the best – it’s a bit clunky and the keys don’t feel as firm as I’d like – but the overall build is surprisingly sturdy. Plus, the mecha-inspired design is a nice touch. It’s not the lightest laptop out there, but it’s thin enough to toss in a bag without much fuss.

Display

Let’s talk about the display.

It’s bright, vibrant, and just plain nice to look at, whether you’re gaming or binge-watching your favorite shows. The colors pop, and it’s bright enough for your gamer cave.

How It Performs

Now, performance-wise, Infinix made an interesting choice by pairing a high-end GPU with a more budget-friendly CPU. The result? You get decent gaming performance without the CPU holding things back. It’s not going to blow your mind, but for the price, it does a pretty good job.

Again, the keyboard could be better. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it’s worth mentioning. And the speakers? They’re okay at low volumes, but crank it up, and things start to get a bit muddy. Plus, when you’re gaming and the GPU is working hard, the fans get loud. Like, really loud. So, do yourself a favor and grab a good headset.

As for benchmarking, I play a lot (or used to anyway) of Final Fantasy XIV and they have this benchmarking tool that they release every new expansion. I ran the benchmark on the Infinix GT Book and this is the result.

As you can see, the GT Book passed with flying colors.

The Price Tag and Final Thoughts

If you’re on a budget but still want a gaming laptop that can hold its own, the Infinix GT Book is definitely worth a look. When I say “budget,” I mean it’s way more affordable than most gaming laptops out there, which usually start at PHP 90,000 and up. Seriously, where else can you find a gaming laptop with an RTX 4060 GPU for under PHP 100,000? At PHP 84,999 (for the i9 model), the Infinix GT Book offers solid bang for your buck.

Sure, the keyboard and speakers aren’t perfect, but the overall package is pretty sweet – especially when you consider the build quality and that awesome display.

So, yeah, the Infinix GT Book has its quirks, but for a ‘budget’-friendly gaming laptop, it’s a great option. If you’re looking to get into gaming without spending a fortune, this might just be the laptop for you.
