MediCard rolls out MedGo app for approvals, claims

MediCard has launched an upgraded healthcare app that allows members to request treatment authorizations, book appointments and track reimbursement claims through a single platform.

The company, the healthcare arm of AIA Philippines, said its MedGo app seeks to simplify transactions that previously required multiple steps, including securing letters of authorization (LOAs) and locating accredited providers.

Members can use the app to access their digital membership ID, check benefits and coverage, search for clinics, doctors and hospitals, and access available online consultation services.

MediCard said response times for applicable automated LOA submissions have been reduced to under three seconds. The company did not specify how long these submissions previously took.

For reimbursements, members can submit claims, upload supporting documents and monitor their requests. The platform also uses automated case creation to help process submissions.

MediCard chief executive officer Julian Mengual said member feedback guided the redesign, with the company focusing on difficulties encountered when arranging consultations, undergoing tests and seeking reimbursements.

“People don’t think about healthcare as merely a series of digital transactions. They simply want to get an appointment, see a doctor, get tests done, or be reimbursed for a service without added complexity,” Mengual said in a statement.

A Face Scan feature offering health insights is also available to select accounts, according to MediCard.

The company said the platform was developed to accommodate additional digital healthcare services and facilitate integration with third-party partners.

MediCard said the app would complement its physical clinics and accredited provider network, which members would continue to use for healthcare services.

The rollout follows AIA Philippines’ acquisition of MediCard in 2023 as the companies expand their combined healthcare and insurance services.

Mengual said a dedicated team would continue adding services and updating the app based on member feedback, including improvements to how users navigate its features.
