Philippine micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSME) need more than access to artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and other new technologies. They also need affordable tools that solve everyday problems and guidance on how to use them, according to Converge ICT Solutions Inc.

The fiber broadband and technology provider said many MSMEs may hesitate to adopt unfamiliar technology because they do not immediately see its value or are worried about the cost and risks.

At the ASEAN Tech Summit Manila 2026, Converge SVP and SME Group head Dindo Marzan said technology companies must make their products easier for small-business owners to understand and use.

“The battle cry of our founders, Dennis and Grace Uy, has always been to leave no one behind in this digital age,” Marzan said. “For MSMEs to see the value of emerging technologies, there has to be dedicated guidance. A sari-sari store owner needs to see the practical, day-to-day benefit of a tool and trust it enough to use it.”

Marzan spoke during a panel with Department of Trade and Industry Undersecretary Jean Pacheco, Binance Philippines general manager Jen Bilango, and Blockshoals Technologies Inc. head of Legal Atty. Tonet Quiogue.

Converge said free trials could allow entrepreneurs to test digital tools before spending money on them. The company has worked with organizations such as the DTI and TikTok to offer trials and help business owners become familiar with available services.

Technology providers should also keep software and other digital services affordable, particularly when these are sold as additions to an internet plan, the company said.

Another approach is to create tools for the specific needs of small enterprises instead of offering the same product to every business. These could help owners manage sales, communicate with customers, accept digital payments, or protect business data.
