Google is bringing AI shopping features to the Gemini app in the Philippines, helping users find products, compare choices, and get shopping suggestions without leaving the chat.
The update aims to make online shopping easier by reducing the need to open multiple tabs, check different websites, and compare products one by one before deciding what to buy.
With the new feature, users can simply describe what they are looking for in their own words, similar to asking a friend for advice. Gemini can then show product suggestions along with details such as prices, reviews, availability, and where to buy them.
The feature can help with different shopping needs, whether users are looking for a birthday gift, choosing running shoes, finding travel bags, or comparing fashion items.
For example, someone searching for “birthday gift ideas for my dad who is into the NBA” with a ₱2,000 budget can get product suggestions with images they can explore. Users choosing between items, such as luggage for a weekend trip, can also see side-by-side comparisons with details like size, weight, and other important features.
The shopping features are powered by the Shopping Graph, which includes more than 60 billion product listings, with two billion updated every hour.
This helps Gemini provide more updated product information and more choices when users are deciding what to purchase.
