I saw the ROG x Hatsune Miku collab IRL and yes, it’s as cute as it sounds

I dropped by the ASUS Philippines office to take a look at the new ROG x Hatsune Miku collab, and wow!

It’s every bit as teal, futuristic, and unapologetically weeb as you’d imagine. It’s a full setup for Miku fans, from motherboard to monitor, all dripping in her signature aqua and pink hues.

For the hardcore fans, Miku needs no introduction.

But for the uninitiated, Hatsune Miku is a virtual pop star created by Crypton Future Media back in 2007, powered by Vocaloid software. She’s the OG digital idol, with a massive global fandom long before AI-generated influencers were even a thing.

Think of her as the blueprint. The queen mother of all virtual idols that came after.

Honestly, I was surprised that not a lot of people I talked to knew who Miku was.

I had the impression that this generation was fully weeb-pilled, but I guess Miku belongs to the older weebs, the NicoNico era fans who stayed up watching hologram concerts on YouTube.

*Cue the existential crisis* Am I really that old?!

    The collab lineup

ROG’s new Hatsune Miku collection is a visual treat. The centerpiece, the ROG Strix X870E-H Gaming WiFi7 Hatsune Miku Edition motherboard, is all teal circuitry and Miku graphics, built for AMD Ryzen 9000 Series CPUs and optimized with ASUS’ new AI Cache Boost for performance gains.

There’s also the ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5080 OC Hatsune Miku Edition, which basically screams “idol energy” with a full-color Miku backplate and pink-blue shroud, perfect for anyone who wants their PC to look as powerful as it runs.

For those who like showing off their rigs, the ROG Strix Helios II Miku Edition case comes with a full-body Miku illustration and pink-teal lighting accents. Rounding out the setup are equally themed essentials: a Ryuo IV 360 ARGB liquid cooler, Thor 1200W PSU, and XG27ACMEG-G monitor, all sporting Miku’s trademark colors and even her “01” insignia.

And if you’re a completionist, the collab also includes matching ROG Strix Arion SSD enclosure and Miku-themed shirts. Because really, part of the joy of being a fan is wearing your fandom on your sleeve.

    Literally.

A collab that hits all the right nostalgia buttons

As someone who’s followed Miku since her early days, this collab hits my weeb buttons hard. It’s equal parts nostalgia trip and flex piece. Seeing her integrated into modern gaming hardware feels like watching your favorite anime character level up with you over the years.

I actually wanted to complete the experience by catching her Miku Expo 2025 concert in Manila on November 16 but, as expected, tickets were gone in a flash. I tried to buy the moment selling opened and everything was almost sold out already.

I even thought of watching her Tokyo leg instead, but it falls on my dad’s birthday. Priorities, right?

So instead, I ended up getting tickets to Lawson’s 50th anniversary concert in January. Totally didn’t expect to win the Japan lottery system, so that’s a small miracle.

For the fans — and the fans-to-be

ROG is also giving fans a chance to score VIP concert passes to Miku Expo Manila through their promo bundle.

Those who pre-order the full ROG x Hatsune Miku set before November 4, 2025 get exclusive merch — including a premium Miku figure, limited-edition shirt, and raffle entries for VIP tickets.

It’s definitely a nod to the community that’s kept Miku’s voice echoing across generations.

The full lineup officially launches online on November 1, so if you’re planning to Miku-fy your setup, better move fast because stocks and promos are limited.

Personal note: Seeing Miku integrated into cutting-edge ROG gear feels like watching fandom history merge with the future of gaming.

Maybe being an “older weeb” isn’t so bad after all. We just had Miku first.
