Globe is blocking hundreds of websites that stream or host gore and other forms of extreme violence to protect children from harmful online content.

Globe said the latest restrictions cover illegal gore-related material and content linked to extreme violence. The move follows orders issued by Philippine government agencies after recent incidents involving school shootings.

“We have a responsibility to help make the online environment safer, especially for children and young people,” said Atty. Froilan Castelo, general counsel, Globe. “As new risks emerge, we need to keep looking at what more we can do. The recent school shooting incident is an opportunity for the industry to work together by removing sites that induce violence from our networks. At Globe, we are ready to do our part and protect children online,”

The latest action expands Globe’s existing network-level blocking of illegal online material. In 2025, the company blocked 438,446 domains and URLs containing child sexual abuse and exploitation materials.

Globe said it invested more than $2.7 million in systems used to detect and block such content. Its restrictions also cover non-photographic images and, since August 2024, AI-generated child sexual abuse materials.

The company works with government agencies and international organizations, including the Internet Watch Foundation and the Canadian Centre for Child Protection, to identify and restrict access to harmful and illegal content.
