Epson Philippines Corp. is scaling up its sustainability efforts across its operations, product development, and partner network, focusing on reducing waste, improving energy efficiency, and expanding recycling initiatives as part of its long-term business strategy.

“At Epson, sustainability is part of how we work every day. It guides the way we develop our technologies, run our business, and work with our partners and communities,” said Masako Kusama, president and director of Epson Philippines Corp.

At the core of this direction is its Heat-Free technology and energy-efficient printing systems, which are designed to lower power consumption while maintaining productivity for business users. Epson said these innovations are part of its efforts to integrate environmental considerations into product design from the ground up.

The company’s sustainability efforts also extend to its internal operations. Programs such as waste segregation, recycling initiatives, and the employee-led Trash to Treasure campaign are being used to reduce workplace waste and improve material recovery. In fiscal year 2025, Epson Philippines reported collecting more than 1,100 kilograms of plastic waste and over 1,100 kilograms of shredded paper for recycling and upcycling.

Epson is also working with external partners to expand its environmental impact. One initiative is its collaboration with WWF-Philippines in Pio Duran, Albay, which supports improved waste collection systems, expanded plastic recycling, and community-based environmental education programs.

The company also operates a Corporate Waste Collection Program, which started in Davao and has expanded to Cebu. The program allows channel partners to properly collect, return, and recycle used consumables and other materials, strengthening waste management practices across its distribution network.

These initiatives were highlighted during Epson’s annual Fusion 17 media engagement held at Discovery Samal, where the company underscored how sustainability is being integrated into its long-term direction.

Now in its 17th year, Fusion serves as a platform for discussing Epson’s strategy, innovation pipeline, and sustainability priorities. This year’s ECOPRINT theme centers on the idea that meaningful environmental impact is built through consistent daily actions across the organization and its partners.

Masako Kusama, president and director of Epson Philippines Corp.

“This reflects the impact that grows from these everyday actions,” Kusama said. “Through Fusion, we are grateful for the opportunity to share ideas, learn from one another, and continue building meaningful partnerships.”

Across its product design, operations, and partner programs, Epson said it is aligning its business model with long-term environmental goals, making sustainability as an ongoing operational discipline rather than a standalone initiative.
