Microsoft’s Xbox division and Discord have introduced a new bundled subscription offering that gives Discord Nitro members access to a new “Game Pass Starter Edition,” a lower-tier version of Xbox Game Pass aimed at casual and social gamers.
The Starter Edition includes a rotating catalog of more than 50 downloadable PC and console games, along with 10 hours of Xbox Cloud Gaming per month. Titles currently included in the lineup include Fallout 4, Stardew Valley, DayZ, Deep Rock Galactic, Overcooked 2 and Grounded. Microsoft said more games will be added over time.
Unlike higher Game Pass tiers, the Starter Edition does not appear to include access to major day-one releases. Just recently, Xbox removed day-one access for future Call of Duty titles from some subscription plans.
The bundled offering included at no extra cost for eligible Discord Nitro subscribers in supported regions. Discord Nitro currently costs around $10 monthly in the United States.
The companies are also expanding integration between the two platforms, allowing Discord users to launch compatible Game Pass titles directly through Discord activities and streaming prompts as Microsoft pushes Xbox beyond the console ecosystem.
Xbox subscribers will also receive Discord-related perks later this month, including monthly Discord Orbs, bonus rewards multipliers and discounts in Discord’s digital shop.
