Teradata eyes more local projects in PH for 2025

Teradata, a global leader in data management and analytics, is doubling its efforts in the Philipppine market by bringing more of its technology in local projects for the year 2025.

Praveen Thakur, Teradata’s senior vice president for global growth markets, told PhilSTAR Tech that the company is strategizing to adapt its global practices to address the unique needs of the Philippines.

On that note, the Teradata executive revealed that they have partnered with the local government of Makati for the creation of a Citizen 360 Platform.

The platform consolidates citizen data into a single repository, providing government officials with a comprehensive view of public programs, such as health card usage and subsidy distribution.

“For example, the mayor’s office has got a view of all government programs, like the health card that we have in the Philippines—the yellow, green, red—[showing] what benefits they’re availing, what subsidies they’re getting, and what kind of facilities they’re accessing,” Thakur explained.

The platform is also set up to address identity issues, a common challenge in many markets where citizens might have multiple IDs or variations in their names.

“We went live… a month ago. [It’s] very exciting bringing the power of technology to people and also looking at what kind of schemes or benefit programs we can take to the masses,” he said.

“This is really an example of digitalization at population scale.”

Teradata, in localizing its services in the country, partnered with local IT consulting firm Micropinnacle Technology Corporation (MTC).

Lyle Legaspi, MTC’s consulting director, said that they will be ensuring that Teradata’s technologies are effectively adapted to the local context.

“When it comes here, we know the landscape—the bureaucracy, so to speak, which is a lot—and what we can do with our tech experts is lead and handhold [clients],” Legaspi explained.

“Navigating the Philippine market is not easy, but MTC together with Teradata can make it happen.”

Last November 26, MTC invited executives from Teradata and Qlik as speakers for its closed AI event titled “Accelerate ROI with Trusted AI” at the Fairmont Hotel in Makati City.
