Pinoys keep falling for these fake Marshall speaker promos

Although Facebook has been trying to combat misinformation for years now, it seems that sponsored ads are really the best way to legitimize fake promos. To be honest we are really not sure how Facebook handles their policy with scam sites ever since they retrenched a significant portion of their workforce, but these fake Marshall promos are getting out of hand.

To be honest, you’d have to be very misinformed to believe a promo like an Emberton speaker going for 90% off. No way. Not even in yearly clearance sales would you see a premium product like Marshall go this low, and be so easily accessible online. For the record, this is the real price of an Emberton II speaker at P9,990 from Digital Walker, one of their premium resellers. Also, just look at this latest sponsored ad — Beyond the Box would never advertise with PowerMac Center. They’re direct competitors. It’s like having McDo say Jollibee burgers are better.

Also, just look at the page description below. For the record, the real Facebook page of Beyond the Box is https://www.facebook.com/beyondthebox.ph. Also, the likes and follow are not links, but typed in the description page.

If you check out the actual website where you input your details to get scammed, you will see that even on desktop mode, it loads a mobile site. It’s also in Filipino, which isn’t aligned with Marshall’s brand guidelines. I mean just LOOK AT THIS COMPARISON:

    THE FAKE STORE:

THE REAL STORE (WITH HTML5 GOODNESS)

Look, we know it’s really tempting to succumb to deals like this. But 90% off on a Marshall piece is not going to happen. With that money, you’re actually better off going for an 11.11 deal with Anker or Edifier, which have believable promos for that amount of money. But not for a Marshall.

At the end of the day, the buck stops with Facebook. That scam has been anecdotally reported many times but Facebook sees nothing wrong with it.

Here are REAL LINKS to Marshall, Digital Walker and Beyond the Box so you can shop without getting scammed.
