The GoPro HERO12 Black is a worthy successor to its previous version. Not only does it come packed with features that makes the previous model almost obsolescent, it also debuts at a much more affordable price point in the Philippines.
Here are some notable features:
- It’s not just an action camera. The 8:7 aspect ratio is almost square-like and it enables you to instantly crop video into 16:9 for amazing panoramic shots or 9:16 for Tiktok and other vertical social media platforms. This also means that you don’t need to tilt the camera sideways to shoot in vertical mode.
- Bluetooth audio support – allowing you to record video from an external mic which makes it perfect for content creators when they record videos in 16:9 as it becomes a full-fledged vlogging camera. In addition, the HERO12 Black has voice commands that really feels so seamless when paired with Apple Airpods.
- Extended battery life recording at around 1.5 hours for 5.3k resolution videos, around double its predecessor.
- Impressive HDR mode for vivid videos and photos — GoPro’s Globval Training, Content, and Community Senior Specialist Ron Ng talked about how in the past, HDR videos would be hit or miss and as content creators, manually adjusting color would be the norm. But in this case, the new HDR mode is really something else to behold!
- HyperSmooth 6.0 image stabilization with 360 Horizon Lock — an amazing feature that captures amazing cinematic experiences from a locked perspective. It’s like you’re watching a video inside a roll cage!
- Maximum operating depth of about 10 meters for underwater shots without the case (sold separately)
Priced at P24,990, which is around $100 less than the previous model (Ron Ng said this had to do with bouncing back from the pandemic), this is a steal. The Creator Edition with extra accessories sells for P36,990. The Max Lens Mod 2.0 attachment option sells for P7,490.
