On October 23, 2025, the Leica Store Philippines at Greenbelt 5, Makati City, became the setting for a landmark moment in the world of photography: the official unveiling of the Leica M-EV1.

Leica friends, photographers, long-time collectors, and members of the Leica family gathered to welcome the newest system to the legendary M-line. A system that continues the brand’s uncompromising pursuit of craftsmanship, innovation, and artistic expression.

The store was filled with anticipation and creative energy as guests explored the latest camera, exchanged insights, and celebrated a milestone that bridges Leica’s rich heritage with a bold step into the future. The event featured a special program led by photographers who shared their first impressions and showcased images they captured during their initial hands-on experience with the M-EV1. Their photographs highlighted the camera’s capabilities: true-to-life colors, remarkable detail, and the evocative atmosphere that Leica cameras are known for.

    Introducing the Leica M-EV1: A redefined M-experience

The Leica M-EV1 marks an evolution in the M-System, preserving the tactile, intentional shooting experience of the series while introducing modern technology designed for today’s photographers.

    Key Features

    • Integrated Electronic Viewfinder (EVF) — For the first time in M-history, the classic optical rangefinder is replaced with a built-in electronic viewfinder. The M-EV1 features a 5.76-million-dot OLED EVF with 100% frame coverage and 0.76× magnification, offering photographers a clearer and more precise view of their composition.
    • Triple Resolution Full-Frame Sensor — The full-frame BSI CMOS sensor with Triple Resolution Technology allows photographers to choose among 60 MP, 36 MP, or 18 MP, depending on their shooting style and output needs. The result: outstanding image quality, flexible workflow, and excellent low-light performance.
    • Maestro III Image Processor & Expanded Storage — Powered by the Maestro III processor, the M-EV1 delivers fast image processing and exceptional color rendering. It includes 64 GB of internal storage and a UHS-II SD card slot, providing efficient and reliable file handling.
    • Modern Connectivity — With Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and USB-C, files can be transferred seamlessly through the Leica FOTOS app — a useful tool for professionals and content creators on the go.
    • Content Credentials — Each image is stamped with a tamper-proof digital signature through the Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI), ensuring transparency in an age where authenticity in digital imagery matters more than ever.

The M-EV1 is crafted with Leica’s signature premium feel, featuring a magnesium and aluminum body, minimalist finish, and the timeless aesthetic that defines the M-System. The model is offered in the classic Leica look that enthusiasts appreciate.

The M-EV1 retails in the Philippines at PHP 544,000 and is available at Leica Store Philippines, Greenbelt 5.

Why choose Leica? The event answered this clearly

Throughout the event, the atmosphere reflected what sets Leica apart, not just as a camera brand, but as a community and philosophy of image-making. The photographs presented by the guest speakers showcased vibrant tones, striking sharpness, and the emotional depth that Leica users seek. The M-EV1 proved itself capable of capturing moments with clarity and character, staying true to the “Leica look” while introducing features that elevate creative possibilities.

Guests were able to handle the camera, explore its features up close, and experience the refined ergonomics and tactile controls that make Leica cameras feel like an extension of the photographer’s hand. The fusion of tradition and innovation was evident in every detail of the event, from the storytelling of the speakers to the excitement of the guests discovering what the newest M-camera could do.

A celebration of craft, community, and vision

The launch of the Leica M-EV1 at Greenbelt 5 was more than a product unveiling; it was a celebration of artistry, heritage, and the enduring spirit of the Leica community in the Philippines.

The journey of the Leica M-EV1 begins here, and it invites every photographer to see the world with fresh eyes, one frame at a time.
