DreamWorks Animation used Lenovo workstations and computing infrastructure in the production of Forgotten Island, its animated film inspired by Filipino culture and mythology.
Lenovo said its technology supported the computing requirements of DreamWorks’ artistic and technical teams in creating the film’s characters and environments.
The production used Lenovo workstations, high-performance computing infrastructure and data center technology. DreamWorks has used the company’s workstations across its production workflows, while its infrastructure has handled large-scale computing requirements for animated films.
DreamWorks expanded its partnership with Lenovo in 2025, naming the company its preferred provider for compute services, workstations and solutions.
For Forgotten Island, DreamWorks said the technology supported the production environment used by its teams to develop the film’s characters and Filipino-inspired settings.
The film follows lifelong best friends Jo and Raissa, voiced by H.E.R. and Filipino actress Liza Soberano, respectively.
As the two prepare to take different paths after high school, they are transported to Nakali, a fictional island populated by magical and mythological creatures rooted in stories from their Filipino families.
Forgotten Island was written and directed by Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado and produced by Mark Swift. The three previously worked on Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.
The voice cast also includes Dave Franco, Jenny Slate, Manny Jacinto, Dolly de Leon, Jo Koy, Ronny Chieng and Lea Salonga.
The film is now showing in theaters nationwide.
