Samsung Electronics has introduced the Samsung 990 SSD, a new storage drive built for people who want a faster PC, whether they’re gaming, editing videos, or simply tired of waiting for files and apps to load.

The new SSD comes in 1TB and 2TB versions and is designed to speed up everyday tasks. Users can expect games to load faster, large files to transfer in less time, and demanding applications to run more smoothly.

For gamers, the extra storage is just as important as the speed. Modern AAA games can easily take up more than 100GB each, quickly filling up a PC. Samsung said the 2TB model can store up to 30 large games, based on an average file size of 64GB, giving users more room without constantly deleting older titles.

Creative professionals and students who work with large videos, photos, and design files can also benefit from the faster storage. Samsung said the drive delivers read speeds of up to 7,250 MB/s and write speeds of up to 6,450 MB/s, helping reduce the time spent opening, saving, and moving large files.

Another improvement is power efficiency. The new 990 SSD uses up to 38% less power than the previous 990 PRO while maintaining high performance. Lower power consumption can help laptops run cooler and may extend battery life during demanding tasks.

The drive also works with Samsung Magician Software, which enables users to check the SSD’s health, transfer files from an old drive, and optimize performance with just a few clicks.

The Samsung 990 SSD will roll out globally starting July 15, 2026. In the Philippines, it will be available soon with a suggested retail price of P19,075 for the 1TB model and P37,678 for the 2TB version.

It will be available at Samsung Storage’s official stores on Shopee and Lazada, as well as retailers including PC Express, Datablitz, Octagon, PC Hub, Memo Express, Thinking Tools, Dynamic PC, Infoworx, The Net, and JW Summit.
