GoTyme Bank and PNP ACG Join Forces to Combat Cybercrime

GoTyme Bank, a partnership between the Gokongwei group and Tyme, has signed an MOA with the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP ACG) to intensify efforts against cybercriminals and strengthen digital security. The MOA, signed on September 30 at the PNP ACG office in Camp Crame, reflects both organizations’ commitment to enhancing cybersecurity and safeguarding the digital economy.

PNP ACG Director, Police Major General Ronnie Francis M. Cariaga, highlighted the positive impact of their partnership-driven approach, which has contributed to a reduction in cybercrime cases. Cariaga emphasized that “this MOA is more than just a contract or a receipt; it is a pledge to collaborate in the mission to strengthen cybersecurity and represents a crucial step forward in our collective efforts to combat cybercrime and protect our digital economy.”

GoTyme Bank is reinforcing its cybersecurity measures through partnerships with key agencies such as the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC), the National Bureau of Investigation, and the Department of Justice. The bank’s dedicated fraud and crime prevention division, led by former fraud strategy head Jason Brasileño, is focused on enhancing fraud detection, prevention, and prosecution.

“We believe that empowering our users with knowledge and a straightforward reporting process is crucial in creating an environment where scammers find it increasingly difficult to operate,” said GoTyme Bank co-CEO Albert Tinio. “Security and safety are paramount in our mission to deliver simple, convenient banking to Filipinos. By collaborating closely with the PNP ACG and other government agencies, we believe that a united front is essential to effectively combat cyber threats.”

For customers, GoTyme Bank offers a straightforward reporting process for suspected scams. The bank encourages immediate action by contacting the GoTyme Bank hotline #GO8888 and filing a police report as soon as possible.
