    The 12th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit Charges Ahead

    Despite the heavy rains brought by Typhoon Kristine, it was all systems go for the Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS) at the SMX Convention Center.

    Now in its 12th year, the annual PEVS is the main event of the Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines (EVAP). The theme of this year’s event is “Spark Change, Drive Electric”. Attending the event are industry leaders, manufacturers, motorists, and EV enthusiasts. 

    The biggest booths on the show can be seen from BYD, VinFast, Nissan, Hyundai, and Dongfeng. In these booths, the manufacturers showcased their latest and upcoming EV models. 

    At the BYD booth, spotted were all its current models such as the Dolphin, Atto 3, Sealion 6, Tang, Han, and the recently launched Seagull. The highlight of the BYD booth is the Seal, a premium AWD electric sports sedan with a 3.8 sec 0-100km/h acceleration and 570 km range.

    With its entry in the Philippine market, VinFast hightled its all-new lineup of EVs such as the super cute utility mini EV, the VF 3 and the VF 5 crossover. At the event, VinFast unveiled the sharp-looking VF 7, an EV SUV with a starting price of P1.47M (with battery subscription)

    The Hyundai booth highlighted the IONIQ 5 N, a high-performance premium AWD SUV. Developed by Hyundai and Boston Dynamics, Spot, a canine-like robot with a claw-like appendage can also be seen at the booth. 

    Over at the Nissan booth, attendees can try out the immersive Formula E racing simulator and check out the Nissan Ariya, an all-electric crossover. The Dongfeng booth displayed its four main entries into the Philippine EV market: the Rich6 EV pickup, the tank-like M Hero electric SUV, the affordable Nanobox mini-hatchback EV, and the adorable Nammi EV hatch. The MG booth was dominated by crossover EVs such as the AWD MG 4 XPOWER, MG ZS EV, MG Marvel R, and the IM L7 electric luxury sedan.

    Around 45 EVs ranging from cars, SUVs, utility vehicles, trikes, and scooters are available for test drive at the event from various manufacturers. Visitors can also check out the EVs from up and coming brands such as Seres, Aion, Jaecoo, and DFSK.

    The Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit runs from October 24 to October 26 and it is open to the general public with free admission. Visitors can also get a chance to win one of 12 e-scooters in a raffle.
